Pat Riot
I have only ever bought a couple of things from Gun Broker so I am not an avid user but I do like to go on there and look around. Recently when I access the site they tell me that they cannot verify my name or address, which I find rather odd since I have had an account with them for years. 8 or 9 years and have had 3 different addresses in that time. Have any of you had to proof yourself or verify your accounts with them? I have never heard of this. Here is what they “require”: We were unable to verify the name and address with which you registered. Please provide two forms of identification that match the name and address you have listed on your account before your account can be activated. One document must be a photo ID. You will also need to take a photo of yourself to attach to this message holding a photo ID like a driver's license as verification. END It goes on further but this is the gist of it. I am very tempted to tell them to pound sand, but I decided to see what some of you experienced GB users think. I have no idea how good their site security is. To me this almost reeks of a scam site but I did contact them through their site. What say you GB users?
Alpo
I've never dealt with GunBroker, but yeah, I'd tell 'em to pound sand.
sassnetguy50
How was that sent to you? No, they charged $1 to my credit card when the account opened. I had to update the card when that expired but there was not a any charge on the new card. Never submitted ID of any kind, that goes directly to the seller. Cholla
If you get an email like this, never use the link in it to log in. It is a way to trick you into giving scammers your information. Always go to the website in question by typing in the actual website. If you are using a PC, you can see where it is trying to take you by hovering the mouse cursor over the hyperlink. I just read an article the other day that scammers are using different characters in the hyperlink to send you to a scam website. It can be as little as an a vs α. example:
Pat Riot
This request pops up when I access GB. Their email looks legit. I decided that I really don’t need GB in my life so I am freezing my account. Over the past couple of years I have attempted to buy guns in that site. That’s a flippin’ joke as I literally have never come close to “winning” a bid. The one thing I did bid on and win was an incorrect pair of grip panels. I guess a Centennial is not the same thing as an Airweight Centennial. I keep waiting for the day when GB gets hacked and all that financial info goes on the “dark web”, whatever the hell that is. By the way, anyone that responded want a free set of grip panels for a model 40 Centennial? They are pretty. Here they are on my
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001
never delt with GB , NO acct. I would NOT give up that kind of info to anyone lots of stuff to get at the local toy store , most of the time at a much better price CB
Mossy Horn Gent
Never had to verify my account. Rarely see good deals and gave up trying to bid on items. They extend the bidding time after the final bid. Seems most items are worth a lot more to someone else than they are to me. Many winning bids exceed the actual value of the item.
