Recommended Posts

The Dale Gang currently has 7 members with another starting to shoot next year. They shoot with the Woodstock Regulators and the Southern Regulators. The Dale Gang consists of:

Buckshot Bear, grandfather

Jenorado, grandmother

Red Justice, eldest son

Lady Mercy, daughter in law

Young Maverick, grandson

Tommy Two Guns, younger son

Gemstone, daughter in law

Their shooting irons consist of 8 Ruger New Vaqueros, 2 Ruger Wranglers, 4 Uberti 1873’s, 1 Winchester 9422, 3 Stoeger shotguns, and 2CZ hammered doubles and a Bond Arms derringer all in .38 caliber with the SG’s being 12 gauge. The Wranglers and Winchester in.22 of course.

They shoot 3 weekends a month CAS and Wild Bunch and IPSC on occasion. Buckshot Bear is the reloader on a Dillon 650 set up for .38 caliber.

With my marginal internet and his marginal internet down there he wasn’t able to send the pictures so he’s going to load them on the thread as replies.

We all started together in 2021, which isn’t that long, but we’ve thrown ourselves into it that's for sure.....we've all shot competitively for a long time, our biggest regret is that we didn't take up Single Action Shooting a long time ago!

For a laugh we put these magnets on our fleet of cars when we go away for a match,

Thanks Tombstone, we've competed in a range of shooting sports for 40+ years, its just a shame that we took so long to take up cowboy shooting!!!!

If the U.S pard who so kindly made those photos above into the 'oil paintings' with a computer program a couple of years ago happens to see them in this thread. Could you please reach out to me? Unfortunately, cleaning out my forum email box I have lost your details.

Sorry pards, yep more photos.

Now our gun carts are hardly worthy of even having that moniker attached to them compared to Yul's handmade creations of art (and like a LOT of U.S pards Yul has corresponded with me for a couple of years on wheels and such sharing his knowledge and expertise and helping me out with plans ect and even offering to send me bits and pieces).

Our gun carts continuously get added to, Jenorado's and mine now has 4 x Vaqueros, 2 x Uberti '73's, Winchester 9422, 12g Boito, 12g Huglu Hammer gun, .45-70 Sharps and a Bond Snake Slayer.

As mentioned, over my time on the Wire I have has SO MUCH friendliness from U.S pards, its been an incredible experience. There has been a lot of packages going from Oz to the U.S and vice versa. The generosity and willingness of pards to help other pards in CAS is something that we have never experienced in any other shooting sports. Shooting at Aussie CAS matches everyone feels like family!

The decals on the cart have all come from U.S pards generosity. Also a U.S pard made me up on their computer '6 dots' evenly spaced like a six shooters cylinder so I could use a punch to make drill start holes for putting the .38 brass shells in the circles drilled out on the cart. On my metal lathe I bored out the aluminium handles on my rifle and pistol squib brass rods and put 12g shells in the end. The cart(s) are always getting updated with something or other!

I know we're in Oz, but we really feel like a part of a large international 'posse' and there's just NOBODY like cowboys and cowgirls!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Yul, couldn't have done it without the forementioned U.S pard sending me the file of the cylinder spacing with dots to centerpunch.

I absolutely will do Mohawk, he stepped down as Single Action Code Captain this year but is still in charge (we let him think :) and Bonnie still takes very good care of us with her wonderful catering.

My daughter was over for a visit and she uses this type of thing in her media consulting business and set it up for me. I’m thinking some themed gun carts with art like this in the front and door panels and chest front.

Is the law still in place, that makes owning a pump action SG all but impossible?

You have a fantastic family :excl:

Unfortunately yes, we've got an '87 that myself and the boys use for fun sometimes in a match. But I can't say I'm overly fond of it.

What extra requirements are involved to buy a pump or lever SG, compared to a SxS?

Nothing for a lever SG for a pump SG just need to be a farmer and apply.

Stupid thing is anyone can buy the new Adler (and the like) SGs and they are wayyy faster than a clunky pump... But not legal for SASS.
