I went in search of some photos / videos that weren’t all dark like they’re hiding something. 
I have never been in battle nor have I stormed a building looking for bad guys, but I am pretty sure no one that actually has would wear this ridiculous get up.

It is designed to stop bullets and shrapnel,  makes sense that it resembles EOD suit. 

 

Full arm armor is a good thing if your teammate's revolver is rested on your bicep.

Manurhin MR73, articles I've read say they use 38 special instead of 357.

Developed in France...huh. Must have full mobility in the arms.;)

Useless for military combat but I can see where it would come in handy for SWAT entrance teams.
