The National Motorcycle Museum closes permanently this evening.  Mecum will auction everything starting Wednesday.

Quality auction houses like Mecum are a great place to browse for high quality pictures of motorcycles regardless of your ability to buy.

What a shame to lose a museum like that. Some rich sobs will be getting some incredible bikes and memorabilia.

Wish we had gotten there. On our way to one of Harley's birthday parties, we got a private tour of the AMA museum, but didn't have time enroute for both. Bummer

I never met his mom, John himself was a good guy.

There was a H-D museum out east if here in Dewey, but it closed down a few years back.  I'm not into motorcycles, but it's still a shame to lose that history

Most of it has to do with the people that are into history and most motorcycles are getting old and disappearing,  thats how i ended up with my ultra, the previous owner got old and couldn't ride anymore,  and nobody was interested in buying the bike, i made a stupid low offer and he took it.
