Crowd favorites at the time! Yeah! We even did the three different guys taking one count on the intro, two separate lead vocals, and the answering group vocals! It got a lot of attention from the audience!! 1 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 (edited) What is the meaning behind the song “Cousin Dupree”? The song “Cousin Dupree” is about a deeply dysfunctional and twisted relationship between two people who are not related but are close enough to be called “cousins.” The lyrics suggest that the relationship is physical but not emotional and that the female character is using the male character for her own ends. Blackwater 53393 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Steely Dan somgs, for the most part, all have double meanings. Sometimes more!! I truly enjoy their music and often get a second and even a third inkling of what might have been the writer’s viewpoint! 1 Quote

The reason I added the explanation on Cousin Dupree is because people can get the wrong idea of what that song is about. I had my doubts the first few times I heard it. Yea, I agree they had lots of lyrics that you could take a couple different ways! Great music though! 1 Quote
