Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 I need some "paint" or other coating to put on the bottom of the rockers on an antiqued rocking chair I just refinished. It turned out very nicely but doesn't move well on a hardwood floor. Kinds drags. I want it to slide and glide like a cloud, and I'd like it to be invisible. Any suggestions?

I doubt that paint would hold up for long; I'd try wax. LL
Ozark Huckleberry Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 My brother-in-law got strips of the loop side of velcro and glued them to the bottom of his rocker. Slides well as you wished, also protects the wooden floor.
Pat Riot Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Here is a link with some ideas. My Grandmother knitted some rocker covers for her chair. https://www.doityourself.com/stry/protecting-your-floor-from-rocking-chair-wear

Sedalia Dave Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Make some runners out of PTFE or other hard plastic and attach using a few small countersunk screws or nails.
Noz Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Let's don't talk about rocking chairs and Grandmothers. I watched my Grandmother accidentally kill my kitten with her rocker. I was SO messy
DeaconKC Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 I would get some self adhesive felt. They make it in different widths and colors. It comes in rolls at places like Lowes or Home Depot.
