It's just the way I choose to play the game. My shots do not go pop tink. Mine go pow clang.

:D Mine Too! :)

Howdy,

What a waste of electrons.

Best

Yet you took time to waste more.

I wasn’t aware there was a limit. No reloading on the clock is necessary.

Excellent analogy or metaphor. May I use that?

It didn't originate with me, so have at it. I first heard it a couple of decades ago, at least!

I have taken to writing up a response, leaving the thread then returning, as the “editor” will save my post, rereading what I wrote then deciding whether or not to post…as I did this morning and deleted what I was going to post last night.

I'm a tad crotchety and short of patience before coffee kicks in.

Doc more eloquently said what I was going to say last night.

I'm humbled.

My point was going to be directly related to SASS and CAS as an example. It seems in our game that one goes through a lot of time and money to get all the gear and guns needed for a person’s first match only to find out they got the “wrong” gun(s) or they need “slickin’ up” and more money or other guns are needed. And folks are willing to remind one of that over and over and over at every match. Just nice folks telling someone how to spend their money to their own satisfaction.
It’s a free service that comes with membership & participation and it seems to carry over into all things SASS…like the Wire.

Funny how that works.

Ridiculous?  Absolutely.

Useless?  In my opinion, YES!

there are a lot of those used in straight walled hunting states.   are they ugly as all get out, yes. do they sell and get used a lot for deer hunting, also a yes.

Okay, not the prettiest gun in the world.  How does it feel, handle, and shoot?

Well, if you're talking the Henry X...

Smooth action. Much smoother than the Marlin Dark series of lever guns.

Well balanced, feels good. Lightweight. Usable, easy to see sights. Threaded for muzzle device. I have handled several but not shot one. Yet. A 30-30 Henry X will be mine someday.  ;)

The OP'S posted rifle? No idea.

I have only owned one Rossi. Cured me of ever wanting another.

I have heard others say that.

I know one guy who tried to use a Rossi at a match and was looking for a pond to golf club his Rossi into after the 3rd stage.

I have a 24" barreled Rossi 92 in .45 Colt that is as good as any lever action I've ever owned with the exception of two Brownings.   I had a smith go ever it when I bought it and he made some adjustments and changed out a few pieces.  That was nearly 30 years ago and I don't remember just what he did but it worked.

It is true that a good shooter can "outrun" a '92, but I was never that good.   I'll keep it.

I've never owned another Rossi long gun but had a couple of DA .38 Special revolvers that worked well.  MY daughter got one, my son got the other. She still has hers, but his was stolen long ago.
