Buffalo Creek Law Dog Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 My brother-in-law gave me a book on John Behan for my birthday. Interesting that it was written by a Canadian who just happens to reside 14 miles from our place. It is called "Westport's Tarnished Star" by Annette Gray (320 pages) and is in defense of John Behan, as she was tired of all the miss-truths about him. She spent a lot of time on researching it as she lists 6 1/4 pages of sources. Most of her time was spent in Arizona and Missouri researching it. Now, the tidbit is that Kurt Russell (Wyatt Earp) always called Behan, "Sheriff Be-han" when it is correctly pronounced 'Bean or been' and that the H is silent. If interested, the book can be obtained from Singing Winds Book Shop Box 2197 Benson, Arizona 85602 (502) 586-2425
watab kid Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 i gotta check that out , its always interested me
Joke 'um Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Maybe Wyatt was prodding the sheriff. Mispronouncing a name repeatedly can be a very irritating back door insult.
Chicken Rustler, SASS #26680 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Didn't he pronounce it that way when he introduced himself? Now I'm gonna have to watch the movie again!
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Behan was shacking up with Josie so maybe Wyatt was trying to get under his skin!
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 So are you saying he is related to Mr. Bean?
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Six and a quarter pages of op. cit. ... Now that's an awful lot of work right there!
