Subdeacon Joe
You'll have to google it yourself for the story and the profanity laced video - the NCO was in fine form. Quote Army NCO struggles for words after soldier parks firetruck on base A private (or specialist, we’re not sure which) bought a used firetruck for $2,200 and couldn’t be happier. He stopped by base while off-duty to show off his new ride. His NCO was at a complete loss for words when he attempted to park the truck in a regular parking spot as if it were any other automobile. “I don’t even know what to say,” said the NCO with a laugh. “I don’t even know how to put this in a counseling statement.” Keep in mind not all counseling statements are negative. The truck came complete with hoses and other accessories. Viewers on social media were quick to call the soldier a legend. Instead of blowing his cash on a new sports car that he’ll be paying off for years, he paid cash for a f***ing fire truck. Many were amazed that he was able to get the truck on base. The NCO asked him to move the truck to a different parking area. “You can’t hide a fire truck!” the NCO shouts as his soldier pulls off to park in a different lot. This is his new primary vehicle. Imagine trying to bring this to formation!

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I can imagine that when he parks it somebody will come to him for help.

Utah Bob #35998
So what? Kid wants a fire truck. NCOs should be worried about more important stuff.
Badlands Bob #61228
That Private is probably the most popular kid on the base. If I could buy a fire truck for $2,200, I probably would buy one too.....unless the wife vetoed it.
Trailrider #896
Being a POV, could the base commandeer the firetruck to back up their own in an emergency?
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
There are fire trucks and there are FIRE TRUCKS! No pictures in any of these stories, I suspect it's like one of those 50s era trucks that really would not be any help. I read a few of the sites about this. Apparently the NEW Army is concerned that the young soldiers do not do stupid things with their money and don't get screwed by the folks in town. I don't think the NCOs, who are just a few years older, are qualified or trained to be "big brothers" and "couselors".
Stogie
Back when I was racing cars I needed a tow vehicle. I bought a newly retired ambulance. One with a big box and pickup cab. Still had all the lights and goodies. I just had to remove or cover the lettering. You can't be shy and drive an ambulance. Most other drivers were very pleasant. Working at NASA they just waved me through the gate without checking my ID for a month before they realized it was a private vehicle then they started to just wave me through because they knew I was "that guy". They were doing random searches at the gate one day and said they wanted to search my ambulance. I asked them if they had brought a lunch because it was going to take him a while. He looked at the truck then back at me and said never mind. Being an ex-paramedic I knew the penalty for running the lights on the street. I only did it once. While towing the race car down a 2 lane road at 5am I got behind a car going 10 under the speed limit. The passing zones weren't long enough to get that rig around him in time so I followed him for about 20 minutes. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and at the next passing zone pulled into the other lane, hit the gas and the lights, he hit the brakes. Once he was behind me I killed the lights, pulled back in and left him wondering what the heck just happened.
