Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
Been suffering with a bad ankle for several years. Just keeps getting worse. Had surgery on it in February and the Doc said it was 50/50 that he could fix it. He said it could turn out worse than before surgery....well it did! I have 3 choices. One is do nothing and rely on pain meds and stay off of it. No more hunting, hiking, etc. (NOT A CHOICE!). Second is to fuse the joint and have a lot less mobility (NOT A CHOICE EITHER!) and last is a new ankle. Went to an ankle specialist last week and am scheduled for a CT scan and then surgery to replace the ankle. Surgery will be in early Nov after my wife and I get back from Hawaii, celebrating our 50 year anniversary. Doc will give me a cortisone shot before I go which helps for about a month. Probably be able to start shooting again in January. Hope this helps and I can back to normal again.....whatever that is. LOL Yuma in January for the annual Breakout shoot

Loco Louie
Make some good memories in Hawaii. It's on my bucket list. My wife had foot surgery last week scraping cartilage out of a trashed joint & fusing the metatarsals. She can't put any weight on it for 12 weeks Two pieces of advice. -Get a knee scooter, she zips around on it and it gives her stability getting out of her chair. About $200 from Amazon. - get a full length chair toilet with armrests. It sets high over your toilet so it makes it easy getting on and off. Your waste goes into the normal toilet bowl. You can also use it as a shower chair. About $54 from WalMart. Good luck LL
Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
Hi Big Sage, I hope all goes well and you heal quickly. A friend of mine who is a doctor has recommended one of those knee scooters for hubby. Good luck! Allie Mo

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Best of luck with the rebuild, Big Sage! Had serious ankle surgery myself last fall, off it for 6 weeks. Clear out a wide path throughout the house for whatever technique you use to get around. I used a bent-knee crutch, it was not as great as advertised. I'd second the bent-knee scooter - just be careful and stay off stairs! Good luck, at serious level! GJ
Trailboss (Santa) Dave
In the last 2 years I have had shoulder surgery, ankle surgery ( to remove bone chips), and a knee (3rd.) replacement. Made 3 matches last year and just got home from my 1st. this year. Have had 19 surgeries total (all for broken bones or joint replacement) and looking at 2-3 more in the next couple of years
