Dusty Balz, SASS#46599 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Lost some great ones over the years and gave some greats ones a new home. They've given me more then I deserve Got 3 labs from rescue now, all like cherished children , been told dogs are angels sent down to help us be better people
Shorty Jack Hammer Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My 15 year old Yorkie is having some really bad seizures and lately she has been sitting on my lap which she normally doesn't do much of anymore because I think it's uncomfortable for her.....I fear she is saying goodbye
Elk Creek LeMieux Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 In our house there's a long standing truth. If the dogs don't like you within 5-10 minutes if your arrival, don't bother talking to my wife. She told me some years after the fact, that when we started dating she waited until I'd met her dog before deciding to keep dating me. She firmly believes that dogs are better judges of people than people are, and I honestly don't remember the last person the dogs didn't like, that convinced either of us they were alright.
Harvey Mushman Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My 15 year old Yorkie is having some really bad seizures and lately she has been sitting on my lap which she normally doesn't do much of anymore because I think it's uncomfortable for her.....I fear she is saying goodbye Based on my experience, you are right. She is also seeking the comfort you have always given her and now give to her in her last days. It is an indication of how much she loves and appreciates you and your lives together. Been right where you are......damn this blurry screen............
JudgeBagodonuts Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I wish I was half the man my dogs think I am.
Clay Mosby Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Know what you folks mean. We have a retired greyhound who is approaching 14 years old, ancient times for a grey. The hindquarters are getting pretty weak but appetite and spirits are good. It hurts to watch a gentle spirit fade.
Tascosa, SASS# 24838 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I can not think aout my past dogs without my eyes tearing up (its alergies). If my dog doesnt like you I hold you at arms length and you're not invited inside my home. I dont know what I'd do with out my current friend...He keeps me laughing! Thank God for dogs. Tascosa
Shorty Jack Hammer Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Dogs are awesome for our mental health. They are always our friends no matter what, they make you laugh, and are fun....sure they can occasionally do 30,000 to 40,000 worth of damage to your house and yard over time ( ha ha) but that's usually because of something we accidentally do like leave one in a room with the door shut and they really want out bad enough to dig a hole through your carpet or eat a hole through the door.... . The yorkie I was talking about makes me laugh all the time. She doesn't anymore but when she was younger she used to have a " mad minute" where she ran around in circles yelping for no reason then just stop. When she eats she has to pick up one morsel of food, carry it to the carpet, then roll around on the morsel before she eats it...... I have no idea what that's about ha ha...... I'm really going to miss her....sniffle
Subdeacon Joe Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Here is our girl. I'll wind her up by holding the ball up and slowly drawing my arm back. The little starts she does are at my faking a throw. Gotta love that little tail going 100mph.This is the dog that people told us was untrainable and would run off if we took her out without a leash. www.youtube.com/watch?v=odtcnUsKkmM
