Calico Mary
I don't think it stands much of a chance of happening, but I for one am all for the idea. Our legislature is unfortunately controlled by people who can't see beyond the borders of Denver/Boulder and couldn't care less how badly they screw over the rest of the state... Keep on 'em Mary, even if it just sends a message to the current politicians that you guys are unhappy!! Rye

Grizzly Dave
I agree that it will likely never happen, but it is an important message to send to the folks in Denver. Hopefully it, along with the recall elections will get their attention. But I doubt it. C'mon 2014!
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
SEVERAL STATES HAVE EXPRESSED THE SAME IDEA. THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE POPULATION IN THE LARGE METROPOLITAN AREAS. EVERY STATE THAT I CAN THINK OF, THAT HAS A LARGE METROPOLITAN AREA IN IT, HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, SOME MORE THAN ONE MAJOR CITY. In order for the politicians to control these area, they must make gifts to the residents to hold there attention while they rob them blind. Detroit is sadly an example of this. Meanwhile the rest of the state suffers. I can not see those at the trought feeding on the pubic coffers doing anything to change it either. I just do not see a good outcome to all of this. Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
Well, I would agree Dusty, but then when the blue states went broke, they would try to take the red states. I have a solution but probably the liberals would not like it.

J-BAR #18287
We did that once. Blue states and Gray states. Didn't work out so well. Not so sure. Sometimes it is just as important to show you are willing to fight as to win. Vietnam, I think, is an example. The United States showed it was willing to fight in 'Nam. Without that commitment, the Berlin Wall might still be standing. The gentlemen at the Alamo lost the battle, but it paid dividends. Willingness to fight sometimes pays off. Even if you lose. Calico Mary
Even if they lose, maybe the scum in the state Capitol will get the point about not ripping off the farmers and ranchers anymore..... but then again, our politicians are stupid enough to think that food comes from the grocery store.... Willingness to fight sometimes pays off. Even if you lose. Well, I'm sure. The South was decimated materially, financially, and psychologically and the tragedy of that war still echoes 150 years later. Polarization I'm afraid, will be the death of us. I've never seen the liberal-conservative rift so wide in my lifetime. The stranglehold on government that the big cities enjoy is driving a wedge between urban and rural citizens. I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Rye Miles #13621
Voices have to be heard. Do nothing and noone will pay any attention. At least maybe this will wake up some politicians who are on the fence about gun control and fall over to our side. A good fight is always worth it! Hill Beachy, SASS #5327
I don't think it stands much of a chance of happening, Well of course it won't happen the way you're doing it. You're just going about it all wrong! First, you're making this a North-South issue when it's clearly an East-West issue. You need to draw your line so that Boulder, Denver, Pueblo and the rest are on one side and the rest of y'all are on the other side. We might have to cede Colorado Springs to them though. Second, you're talking about seceeding from Colorado when what you should be doing is kicking THEM out. So draw your line as mentioned above, declare the new 51st State of "Front Range" and tell them that they're expelled from YOUR state of Colorado. Since you're still in Colorado that makes you legitimate. All you have to do then is re-seat the legislature in a new Colorado state capitol somewhere. I recommend The Lazy Bob Ranch, at least until the beer and steaks run out. See how easy that is?
