Got our reserves made at the Red Roof did y'all get a rate cheaper than making a reservation on the internet? Had crawfish last night. Mmm Mmm good! It wasn't easy but I do believe I finished off this years crop. There may be a few straglers I over-looked, but I doubt it. Now that's not neighborly at all. Maybe some more will materialize by the time we get there. I'm counting, I'm counting! Looks like 8 and a wake up for me to start rolling south. We're headed that way next Tuesday (6 and a wakeup?) Chickahominy Charlie Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I'm surprised that some of the "locals" haven't given more info on eats, so I'm gonna throw my $.02 on the fire.....I used to live in the area (and still only live an hour or so away) (and married a girl from there.... ) and there's good eats to be had in LC! Mudbugs....I'd do Steamboat Bills (which was mentioned earlier) on I-10. To me, it's the best source of boiled crawfish that don't come outta my own pot. Steamboat Bill's Cajun.....my favorite restaurant in LC (and a top 5 nationwide for me) is Pat's of Hendersons Pat's I've also eaten at Billedeaux's (though not for a few years now) and it's a little more relaxed but everything I've eaten there was great. Lookin' forward to seein' all ya'll there! Chick
Noz Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 I just hear that them Mudbugs heard I was coming and they have all headed for east Texas. 6 and a wake up

Possum Skinner, SASS#60697 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 How can you eat something called "Mudbugs"??? It's easy. Wrap 'em in a possum tongue and dip 'em in Tabasco, then onto the grill. Ps: this is NOT what we're serving! ;P
Chickahominy Charlie Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 How can you eat something called "Mudbugs"??? Hmmmm....(1) break, (2) peel, (3) eat, (4) smile, (5) repeat ***(real coonies can insert "suck head" between steps 1 & 2)
Noz Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Hmmmm....(1) break, (2) peel, (3) eat, (4) smile, (5) repeat ***(real coonies can insert "suck head" between steps 1 & 2) An old friend says "If you got two adult men and a 5 gallon bucket of mud bugs, you got a fist fight" "2.5 gallons is not enough for a grown man!" I taught my grand daughter to eat them AND suck the head at a BassPro Shop Sunday Brunch at Hemingway's Restaurant. She was about 6 and we grossed out all of the nearby patrons. This is the same youngun that, at bout the same age, watched me pull the breasts out of a bunch of doves. She finally told me that she thought she could pull the breasts if I would cut the wings off for her. Does she have her Granpa wrapped around her finger? Yup! She's 22 now, married and still my baby. Complicated Lady, We'll have to go out to one of the restaurants listed above and get you started. Lorrie will eat them but she would much rather have shrimp.

That's the way I learned to eat dem mudbugs. Head in left hand, suck head while pinching tail with right hand. Fingers (5 and a wakeup) McGee

Navasota Kid SASS #5671 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 If ya'll go to kplctv.com and go to their restaurant guide, you will be able to see all the eating places in the Lake Charles area. There are other ways to eat the Mudbugs(Fried, Pistolettes, Ettoufee and Jambalaya). Happy Trails Navasota Kid

Big Iron Patnode SASS 60632 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 So, Little Iron is coming.....Maybe I'll shoot B Western If I still had a BW legal gunbelt Come on down Jack! You got a week, you can make a FLASHY B Western rig in that time! I know it would be good! It will be my first time shooting at the Lake Charles club but I know Possum and the rest of the gang will do it right!~
Shotshell #79405 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Last year we found Isle of Capri has Snow crab legs on their buffet on fridays and saturdays for $20. Wouldn't you know it we checked and they still have them. With $20 snow crab I can almost break even after losing in the casino. We are counting the days for my favorite shoot Bayou Blast. You can't beat shootin, gamblin, and cajun food. Shotshell 79405

Complicated Lady Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Still at a 34 pant with about 36 belt! Hopefully stay there for years to come. I know you don't really know me but I wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for not only taking off the extra weight but keeping it off. I know it is an ongoing struggle. In 2002 I weighed 192 pounds. I'm only 5'4" I went on a weight loss program.... no sugar, no white flour, only 1200 calories a day. I lost 58 pounds in 6 months. Now I stay right around 135-140 pounds. But like I said, it's an ongoing struggle...... but oh so worth the effort! I have compassion for anyone who struggles with their weight. I would be happy to tell anyone about the program that helped me if they are interested. See you at Bayou Blast

We are not going to be able to make it. Really wanted to. This was on our list of shoots to make. But got a little Doctor thing to take care of that Friday mourning. So can not make it. Our loss for sure.
Titus A. Gnatsass, SASS #71705 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Same here Al. Would really have liked to have made it down there again this year, but it ain't gonna happen. Fingers, Noz, make sure ya give Complicated Lady (Phyllis ) a lesson in the fine art of eatin them mudbugs! Finer fare you'll not find! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
