I put a reminder on my calendar.

Paper plates are a cheap start and the Range Time brackets are nice. There are other companies out there if you look. If you're shooting in the desert, please don't do clay birds due to the mess you would have. We don't need or want more trash left. It looks bad and riles nature lovers whether a gun enthusiast or not.

.357/125/Bullseye/Clays/Titegroup/HP38 load data wanted
Go West replied to Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329's topic in SASS Wire
I checked 231 loads using a 125 gr. bullet. The new Hodgdon Reloading magazine showed 3.9 gr. @ 876 fps and the Lyman Cast book showed showed 3.9 gr. @ 733 fps. I can understand a small difference, but this seems a bit much for the same charge and bullet. -
Typically 3 per month and toss in a few like Bordertown. Occasional posts on the Wire. If my age and health keeps it up, they'll be using an hour glass to time me.

Make some dummy rounds of different lengths to see what your gun likes. Check the gap between the cartridge guides and shim the right one if it is too loose.

I have a bone spur on my trigger finger. No problems usually with cowboy, but Wild Bunch will typically blister it without a band aid. I don't see a problem.

Reschedule until after EOT or don't shoot. The time period you have is too short for EOT if you have surgery. A good doctor would likely tell you the same. No charge.

I use an acceptable powder to make the power factor and add a bit more to account for cold weather or other contingencies. I run every round through a case gauge as a plunk test with a barrel didn't catch every problem round. Those that did not fit were run through bulge buster and re-tried.

Thanks for the link. The only results I get from the search feature is me getting pissed off. I use PP in shotgun.

Like the title says. Thanks.

I bought 2K pieces of once fired brass from Graf years ago. I've since bought buckets of brass from lost brass matches. I reload until it splits. Nickel brass has been discarded due to failures in the rifle.

There you go, Pietta makes a very good gun. I like mine.

Jim Bowie replaced my extractor and showed me how he did it at Winter Range one year. It's still chugging along. Thank you Jim for all you do.

It needs to snap over the rim, too much slop and it may bounce over it when it should extract the shell. Clean and check.

Walnut with paint thinner and Nufinish and run for about 2 hours. Dryer sheets are optional for me. Clean enough and saves multiple steps over wet tumbling. I deprime while operating my press.

Let's bring this back to reality. I don't have primer explosions. I could appreciate your comments, but Guest, I was looking for a possible solution. Some folks have suggested that Magtech primers were not consistently made. That is not helpful when I have those to use. They do eventually seat, just not with my normal operation. I know, it sucks to be me, but that's the situation I have. Again, I appreciate the helpful comments so please do not stop attempting to help others when they ask.

I have a short rifle with an old C&I short stroke kit in it that I like a lot. I'm looking to get my wife her own gun. The ultimate ss is not necessary for this application. Thank you for your responses.

Not meaning to offend, I reload .45 Colt and .45 Schofield ammo frequently, also with no issues using other primer brands. This involves .45 ACP brass and Magtech primers on my 650. As I said, I haven't had issues until I tried this combination. I do not know at this point if rimmed brass will be an issue with this brand of primer or not. I don't have any RNFP bullets to try at the moment. I appreciate the possible solutions offered by the replies here. I will probably switch over to another caliber at this time and deal with the Magtech issue later.

Pete, please bring yours.

If my press works with other primers, I fail to see how it isn't adjusted properly when I use Magtech primers. It miraculously went out of time because I filled the tube with that brand? Some primers fully seated, but most did not fully seat. They were not smashed, flipped or otherwise tweaked, just not seated fully in various amounts on .45 ACP. They may work on rimmed brass, but I don't know at this point since I haven't tried them as of yet. The primer pin assembly is fairly new and works as intended on primers I normally use. This is my first experience using this foreign brand, not my first experience loading ammo. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions, I appreciate it.

From what I understand, the competition rifle still needs smoothing and springs lightened but I'm wondering if the supplied short stroke parts would be worth the additional $80 or not. This would be in .357. Thanks in advance.

I have a 650 and have used it many years. Now I loaded about 100 .45 ACP using Magtech LPP with unsatisfactory results. The primers did not fully seat, probably 80%. I pulled the case from the primer/powder drop station and stuck the problem rounds back in one at a time and pushed them in again. I could do this for the rest of the 5,000, get a hand primer or do them on a Lyman turret press before putting them back into the case feeder. I didn't have an issue with CCI, Federal or Winchester, so I don't believe it is truly out of adjustment. Another option is to put them on the bottom of my primer stack and ignore the issue for now.

Which hand primer tool do you recommend? I looked online and one recommended Frankford Arsenal Platinum. Thanks.
