Is your American actually a 44 Russian ? Mine is a 44 Special so of course I can shoot both .

I use a Comanchero. You can get them from Mexico . They are cheap and do a pretty good job !

I have now landed a No. 3 Russian in 44 Russian cartridge and a Russian in 45 Colt cartridge. I went from No No.3's too 4 No.3's in like two months . I'm actually pretty impressed on how accurate the No. 3 is .

For the price of 44 Special ammo . You should cut your loss right off the bat and buy some reloading equipment and start loading your own. Just Sayin. Rooster

Oddly enough. Long before I ever started shooting Cowboy Action. I shot Ruger old army percussion pistols . I never had or heard of cap jams . I was a hand gun hunter so naturally when muzzleloading season come around. I used my Ruger Old Army. Until I got involved with SASS around 2011 or So . I never heard of cap jams . Then I fell in love with the Open Top Colts . A whole new world of percussion gun issues opened up to me lol Rooster

It has the original barrel. It was milled off and re-cut for the correct rim size and set back just a smige. She works great . I'm really happy with the rifle . I would just like to shoot 44 Russian to be able to replicate the original 44 flat cartridge. Rooster
