  1. IMHO, lead composition is the biggest factor in richocets and injury. No scientific evidence to back me up, only anectodal and personal experiences. My pure lead C&B, and 20/1, projectiles have never been reported by Posse members to cause splatter My reclaimed and new lead SG shot does produce splatter that hits me and others. Both have antimony in the mix. When I have been hit while another Pard was shootin' rifle or revolver, he said "hard cast" each time I asked. Just sayin' Amarillo Rattler

  7. Dawg, I am changing the 1860 Armys 8" barrels I bought from you 3+'years ago and Rowdy Yates did the full work on 'em. I installed the Birdshead grips I bought from you recently. Perfect fit, thank you again. Bought 4 7/8" 1851 Navy barrels. Sending the barrels and frames to Colorado Coffinmaker for his magic fitting the barrels to the frames. The term "Kit Guns" comes to mind. See ya' Amarillo Rattler

  10. 100% agree with all above. Then stumbled on Southshot while shopping for Buffalo Trace. $22 for a 1.75ltr bottle. WOW!!!! Amarillo Rattler
  11. My practice BP load is 34 of 2F. Plastic wad, OS wad and rolled crimp. My match load is 40 and 52 of 2F, OP then lubed wad, then dry filler wad, then lead and OS wad, rolled crimp. If the practice load is fired near or on the KD, it's down. The smaller match load is used 90%+ of the time. The heavy match load is used for difficult KDs, smaller or at significant angles. When I used waxed filler wad loads, that resulted in many misses, due to the donut patterns. Just sayin' Amarillo Rattler
  12. Dawg, Sorry to use this thread, I sent you a PM on another thread. Thanks, Rattler

  15. I am converting my Pietta 1860 Army with 8" barrels to 1860 Birdshead with shorter barrels. My 8" barrels have a larger brass bead front sights. Prefer the shortest barrels available. Can exchange photos via direct e-mail. Thanks for looking, Amarillo Rattler

  20. Shotgun labels are: "Practice" (plastic wads, smaller loads of reclaimed lead and BP); "Match" (OP wad, 1/2" fiber filler wad, OS wad, larger loads of reclaimed lead and BP); "Match 7.5" (same as Match but with fresh 7.5 shot); "Match +" (plastic wad, largest loads of fresh 7.5 shot and BP). The "Practice" is for Orlando's weekly practice sessions with Cypress Sam presiding. The "Match" is used in club monthly matches. Nice wide pattern for close KDs The "Match 7.5" is used in 2 day matches. Tighter patterns than "Match". The "Match +" is used in all matches for difficult KD situations, tighter patterns with more lead at higher velocity. Don't laugh at my methods, please. I get a nostril full of sulphur with every trigger pull and that has a lasting effect. Just sayin' Amarillo Rattler
  21. I used Magtec 12 ga brass hulls years ago, with RCBS die set for reloading. Stopped when the hull casualty rate (out of shape) could not be corrected with the resizing die. Mouth of casualty hulls (out of round) were not touched by die even when the hull would not chamber. Wish I had known about CH4D dies set, I would have stayed with the brass hulls. Great style points and no hang ups when shucking. Amarillo Rattler

  23. Cassalong:

I am interested in the Bisleys. Any possibility of a FFT in Tallahassee on September 12, 13 or 14? Perhaps a small reduction in price for no shipping?

    Thanks,
