I was/Am signed up for 3 annual matchs, Trailhead, Comancheria Days, Land Run. two of them have already been postponed, and the 3rd (Land Run) has not made a decision yet. (hopefully this mess will be quieted down by then) All the clubs that had spring annuals sceduled have very likely already prichased the awards, raffle items, and paid deposits on banquets, meeting halls , paid for upfgrades to ranges, all sorts of expenses. Now, with the matches being cancelled or indefinilty postponed, they are looking at havng to make refunds for match fees, out of money they likley dont have. While none of us likes to lose money, please consider refusing a refund. I think in many cases, refunds are going to break clubs, or at a miumum cause a pretty severe financla hardship.

I helped run a volunteer organization for many years. At times the buck stopped with me. I know first hand what kind of planning and expenses go into organizing and holding a large event. Many times last minute expenses pop up that weren't budgeted for in the event planning, even if you allow a certain amount for foreseen circumstances. That being said, I have already paid for one scheduled large event this year and plan on paying for two more. When I write that check, to me, the money is spent, gone from my budget. If something happens I can't attend, I don't expect a refund. If something happens the organizing club can't hold the event due to an act of God, man or mother nature I don't expect a refund because most of the time the money I sent has already been spent, on awards, new targets, making facilities better or even graveling the area. If the event is postponed to a later date and I can make that date then yes, I would expect my entry to still be covered. Regards to all

Well, tomorrow morning 0720 MDT, I have the cataract in my left eye removed and replaced. Got a GO from both my primary care doc and the eye doc. Apparently they feel I'm okay in spite of being 77-1/2 and Type 2 diabetes. Otherwise, wife and I will mostly hunker in place. Just have to keep our fingers crossed! Probably won't be back on the confuser until at least Wednesday evening or maybe Thursday.

Ive lost 4 dogs in the past 35 years and only 2 passed naturally. Hard to take but that's nature. Its very hard to make that decision to end their pain and suffering. I bawled like a baby on my last two I had to take to the vet. Its by far the hardest decision Ive ever had to make.

My wife is serious about SASS costuming and was acknowledged at a local club's award banquet as the best dressed lady shooter of the year. She doesn't spend a great deal on costumes - mostly buying hats and dresses on e-Bay and altering them a Victorian look. She also selects costumes for me. Wearing her selections I was awarded the best dressed man of the year. So she effectively received two awards. I am not too focused on costuming and mostly focus on my black powder shooting. However, winning costume contests is fun and I've enjoyed our successes.

I built some awards for a club out here last year and they were pretty well received so another real small club is having their annual match next weekend and asked me to build the awards and here is what I came up with. I used scrap lumber left over from other projects and I used a 3D printer to print the club medallion and then I painted them , gold, silver and bronze. The bison skull on the match winner plaque is also 3D printed and then the horns painted. They found the EOT belt buckles on EBay. The spirit of the game award with the John Wayne Bobblehead came from amazon and that one is the only one that won’t mount on the wall. The award with the screwdriver set on it is for the shooter with the most gun malfunctions. The award with the fence on it is for the middle of the pack shooter.

Dear SASS Family, Our #1 priority at SASS has always been the safety of our members. As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world and throughout the United States, concern for member health and safety, airline restrictions, travel warnings, business & school closures, and the varying bans on gatherings and events are affecting our affiliated clubs operations and events- forcing cancellations of matches both within and outside of the SASS Sanctioning Program. What about END of TRAIL? We have received numerous inquiries as to the planning and execution of EOT 2020. With 94 days from the start of EOT as of the date of this letter, it is simply too early to speculate. There are still many unknowns about the COVID19 Pandemic’s lifespan here in the US. We are hopefully optimistic that this situation will be resolved- and the related gathering bans and restrictions will be lifted. We are assembling numerous scenarios regarding EOT, including limitations and alternatives, as well as preparing ourselves to consider postponement- and even cancellation. If left with no choice but to cancel the event due to the Pandemic, our attendees will be given the choice of a full refund or the transfer of entry fees to the next year. All EOT registrants will continue to be informed of the situation and any impacts to the event as we move forward. SASS will continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation related to the spread of COVID-19 and strive to continue to serve as a support system for our Affiliated Clubs and our SASS family through this time. My co-worker's ex-wife came down with it, but has recovered. Last night I was thinking to myself, this is pretty much a liberal progressive's wet dream. Enact all sorts of controls on the population that will later stand up in the courts, make Trump look completely bad, and take down Wall Street and corporations nationwide. It's probably the first time I ever wore my tinfoil hat to bed, but what the hey.

I only have one outstanding paid match fee. If that match gets rescheduled I'm perfectly fine with that MD holding onto my match fees.

My thoughts actually went the opposite direction. Given the age groups that are most vulnerable to the virus, and the age groups that are most active in SASS, I worry that we'll actually have a surplus of Cowboy guns and a shortage of friends if this virus isn't stopped.

For ten shooters we place two loading tables together and all ten load. We have a TO, brass rat, a shooter and everyone else basically spots. When each shooter is finished the stage he returns to this doubled loading tables and places his guns in the same spot and doesn't unload. He then helps with the posse duties. When the last shooter finishes the stage all shooters return to the table, unload their guns and reload. We then posse up, read the next stage and start the process again. It might not be SASS as we know it but it works like a charm.

Although not quite as unpopular as Coronavirus itself you could always make it a lost brass match and do away with the picker...

Hello everyone, just shot a two day annual this past weekend. Even with all the extra cleaning and fist bumps and attempting 6ft no fly zones, we are who we are. We fist bump one minute then shake hands later. Example, when awards were handed out a hand shake or hug happens when you receive your award. People still reach in a water cooler to retrieve a bottle of water. Brass pickers still reach in the net and place your brass on the table. You just can't think of everything that avoids contact. We are a social sport so contact of some kind is unavoidable. Just think, what if your mail carrier got the virous. You and your whole neighborhood could get it and not even leave home. Exception to going to the mail box. The older generation is the most affected and the majority of SASS shooters fits this description. I am the match director to the Gunfight at the Double-C to be held on April 25th and 26th here in Virginia and I will have to make the call to postpone or not in the next week or so. It's not just about all the planning and hard work put in already but it's about being torn between my love of the game the love of seeing and socializing with my friends and fellow shooters and my concern for their overall health and well being. A decision that ways heavy on my heart.

If you are using walnut media, watch the dust that comes of the media when shaking it out. I now use disposable masks and gloves when handling dirty brass. After nine years of loading for myself and the kids my lead level has elevated. I always thought my lead level would be tested when I had physicals, but it isn't. Do not mean to take away from your thread. Have no idea the volume you will be loading.

I saw this virus as an opportunity for payback, so I put both my parents on restriction early last week. They aren't allowed to leave the house until my brother or I give them the OK. So far they're buying the story that it's for their own good, just like they used to tell me.

1/4 teaspoon Lemishine, squirt of Dawn, tablespoon of Stratosheen. Load your brass in the tumbler, add water and then the three cleaning agents. Close it up and tumble for an hour or so, open it up, dump the brass into a colander rinse a couple of times with cold water and spread on a cookie sheet out in the sun to kill the covid-19 virus (that’s a joke folks) and dry. Doesn’t get much easier.

Annie and I never had children, the two legged kind. Just wasn't in the cards. So over the past 42+ years, many four legged kids have impacted our lives. Our travel buddy to shoots for a number of years was Mr. Fitzsimmons, a 150lb American Bulldog. His SASS alias was Don Bully Andro dele Vega. That dog impacted our lives in ways we are still realizing. We lost him last year just after he turned nine. I am crying as I am typing this big time. Well two weeks ago, I made a commitment to foster a rescue. He was named Rye which is now Riley. About 1.5 years old, part Shepard and part Chow. He was not abused but totally ignored. In two weeks he has gone from being afraid and distant to walking with me with his tail out wagging, sleeping on the bed and learning about cats. We have decided to adopt Riley. He came home in the back of the '04 Corvette, rides in the back seat of the dually and has decided the travel trailer is okay. He will be with us in TN in Oct. Mr. Fitz can never be replaced, but Riley has come into our lives for a reason. A good one I am sure of. Chas B

See Yul's OP - " They found the EOT belt buckles on EBay". So somebody sold their buckles, or left overs, I guess. If I had one or ten, you'd need a prybar to get it loose. LL
