T-Square Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Does anyone know anything about the Gallatine Valley Regulators? Their website is very lacking - only says that they exist as an affiliate of the Manhattan Wildlife Associate, Logan shooting range. The SASS website does not list them, they must not be a paying Club. Looking for contact information and when they shoot. I'm going to be spending time in Montana, and want to visit all the Montana Cowboy Clubs. Thanks, Edited January 21 by T-Square Quote
Kid Rich Posted January 21 Posted January 21 We were up in that area a couple years ago and I remember one club that was members only, I don't remember if it was that one or not. kR 1 Quote
Curly Pete Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Tried to send you a PM with direct contact information but it says "T-Square cannot receive messages". If you PM me I will provide the email address for Gooch Hill Drifter, who runs the club. 2 Quote

Curly Pete Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I routinely shoot with this club and you do not have to be a range member to shoot the cowboy matches. 1 2 Quote
The Blarney Kid Posted January 21 Posted January 21 This is the website for the club. Anyone can shoot at the match. Shoots are on the 2nd Saturday of the month from April to September and on the 3rd Saturday from December to March. https://sites.google.com/site/gallatinvalleyregulator2/ 2 1 Quote
T-Square Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Thanks everyone. I got the email address for Gooch Hill Drifter from the SASS HQ. The Gallatin Valley Regulators is not an active SASS club since 2022, but HQ would like to have them back in the group. I emailed Gooch asking for information, and thank you Curly Pete and The Blarney Kid for the shooting calendar. I have a son living in Bozeman and some business this spring in Billings. I'm planning to shoot all the Clubs in Montana this summer, if God and The Wife are willing. I go to Emeritus status in August and I hope that gives me more free time to shoot as many of the States as I can (like many of you). Now I need a luxury motor coach ! Cheers ! 1 Quote

Does that sound right to you. It was 5 or 6 years ago and I don't remember all the specifics. TM Quote

Three Foot Johnson Posted January 23 Posted January 23 The Manhattan Wildlife Association range (Gallatin Valley Regulators) and the venue for the state match at the Great Falls Shooting Sports Complex (Black Horse Shootists) are both members only ranges, meaning they are behind locked gates, but a member can host you as a guest of course. It used to be a ten dollar fee to bring a guest in at MWA - if you're shooting a match, of course, there's no extra fee, just the registration fee for the match. The Gallatin Valley Regulators have their own dedicated gate at MWA, separate from the main gate, that is unlocked and opened an hour or two before the match, and remains open until Gooch has everything put away, scores entered, and locks up on his way out. I can't think of a formal shooting range where just anybody can walk in and use the facilities. Just a sign of the times - allow open unmonitored access to anybody, anytime, and you're going to see damage, theft, and vandalism. At one somewhat remote range here, someone climbed over the locked gate a few years ago, broke into the locked registration building and stole a few things. 2 Quote
