Where to find Rugged cart wheels

No, contact the factory.   They have made several wheel changes during the years, and older models are just about impossible to get wheels for.  Weak early designs (like the spoke wheels which did not have spoke-socket-nuts) and China-sourced product has resulted in their carts being expensive use-for-a-while-and-discard equipment.    Got to be real gentle with their carts!

good luck, GJ

When I broke my rear wheels--my fault--cart fell off my tailgate fully loaded I contacted the factory--they have an up-grade of all 3 wheels and a new front yoke.

pricy but much better set-up now.

since I already had the cart this was cheapest way to go -- in for a penny, in for a pound

I have an old Rugged Gear cart I bought from a retired shooter.   It is the one that the long guns point at your face when pushing.  One of the solid tires fell apart so I texted a photo of the wheel rims (they are in good condition)  to R.G. to see what they could do for replacement tires.  They replied that they had never seen those types of wheels.  At our recent Shebang match I saw the exact same cart and wheels as I have.  Suspect that R.G. is weak on product support.  Then I looked up about standard bike tire sizes for the rim size (it has valve stem holes) bought two 16 x 1.75 and a 12 x 1.75 bike tires and tubes and could not be happier.

Check with Scarlett Darlin on here. She is a distributor for Rugged Gear and I am pretty sure she has wheel replacement kits in stock for quick shipment. If you go to a match where she is shooting she normally has parts with her for sale.

she has some good bullets too.

I wore out my first RG cart in about 6 yrs. Bought a new one. Used it for a couple of years. The wheels and the “wrist” hinge are the weak spots. I’ve broken several of the wrist joints. Just a weak design. The carts do work well, but not overly durable.

I went to a Range Tactical cart. They are SOLID. I think only way you could break one would be to run it over with your truck!  Only questionable feature is the brake. They just don’t work well. Be careful if parking on a slope!  They are spendy, but they work really well.

Garrison Joe, as the only authorized Ambassador for Rugged Gear, I have to disagree with you on your "use and discard" statement.  All you have to do is look around a match and see that there are LOTS of iterations of the Rugged Gear cart "still on the range".  While the spoke wheels had failures - one of mine did on my first cart - three gun set up - the improvements that have been made have solved many of those issues.  The problems folks have now is sourcing parts for carts that are 25 years old. I sell Rugged Gear carts, accessories and parts.  The cart frames are made in China.  Finding a US made source would trip the cost.  They tried.  The fabric covers and many other accessories are made IN South Dakota where Rugged Gear is located.  The aftermarket RG accessories that I sell are made in NC.  As with anything, you have to take care of it.  My cart is usually the last thing that goes in my van after packing up from a multi day match vending/shooting...and I am TIRED are ready to head home. I am not always careful or "stuff happens" and I bend my axle...its $15 to replace and I have only done it once.

Rugged Gear has had its issues, to be sure, but I have had an excellent relationship with Rugged Gear since 2019.  I am proud of the collaboration with Rugged Gear and the team they have in place is outstanding.  If I may be of assistance with a Rugged Gear cart or issue, please let me know.

Hugs!

Scarlett

Yep, my poor experience came with a cart bought in 2008.   Wire wheels, busted brakes, poor fabric design.

Replaced in 2010 (IIRC) with another, and that one is still going fairly strong.

were directed at the original design, and that seemed to be what the OP had.

I'm glad they have made improvements through the years.  Glad too that they now have a field rep who gets out amongst the end users, too!

good luck, GJ
