bgavin
I understand Red Dot is also a goner. Pity... on paper that powder can go great things.
Cypress Sun
Midway just sent me the same thing for Alliant Bullseye and American Select. I had both of these powders on "Notify Me" status with them. I think that the notice is just to clear their system. Alliant had sent out a press release a few months ago saying that they were indefinitely suspending sales of ALL smokeless reloading powders for the immediate future due to a shortage of nitrocellulose and the usage of Alliant powders in manufacturing of munitions for wars (Ukraine, Israel, etc). Apparently, they weren't kidding. At least they did give warning. Midway may be dropping Alliant powders, I don't know, but I really don't see Alliant discontinuing Bullseye, A Select, Unique, Clay Dot or other popular powders. Blackwater 53393
Midsouth Shooters Supply had Red Dot in stock a couple of weeks ago. Says they’re out now.
Sedalia Dave
Alliant's website has nothing about discontinuing anything. If you go to Midway USA's website, NONE of the Alliant powders are listed as discontinued. they are listed as "Unavailable - Limited Production" BIG difference. A total 32 of Alliant's powders are currently listed as such. Edited September 10 by Sedalia Dave
Blackwater 53393
Midsouth DOES have several Alliant powders listed as available.

As does Powder Valley, Natchez and several other suppliers. They aren't popular powders but are still available. I have to guess that the Alliant powders still in stock are really just old stock made before the indefinite suspension announcement. bgavin
Congratulations! Pricey, but one either has to pony up the $$, or do without. If that $50/# includes hazmat and shipping, you did indeed do very well. Red Dot is very attractive on paper for handgun loads. Before the big price increase, I picked up 8# of Clays, and 7# of Trail Boss, which will have to do. Best to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
On another forum (https://www.24hourcampfire.com - been an interesting site for years!) a fellow posted the following: Quote Brad re: Alliant Powder (RL) Rumors... I've seen here and on other forums rumors that Alliant is quitting the civilian powder market. Rather than participate in the rumor mill I decided to reach out to Alliant direct via email. Here's the exchange: Me: Hi, I’d like to set the story straight on various online hand loading forums - Is Alliant getting out of the consumer (handloading) powder business permanently? Thanks. Alliant's Response: Brad - No we are making powders and powders for civilian use as well. Currently the bulk of the issue with powder (all powder companies) is the Lack of Nitrocellulose. Nitrocellulose is a key component in double base powders. All our powders are double base. The shortage of Nitrocellulose is caused from supply and demand. There are only two suppliers that manufacture Nitrocellulose. One out of the two currently shut down for the foreseeable future. Causing our current shortage. “Perfection is Achieved Not When There Is Nothing More to Add, But When There Is Nothing Left to Take Away” Antoine de Saint-Exupery The 308 is Great - The 270 is Plenty.
