The Rainmaker, SASS #11631 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 What weight bullet? I use 5.4 for a 200 gr
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Before I switched to Clays for 45 Colt, I loaded a lot of 5.5gr Titegroup (Hodgdon's minimum at the time) with a 200gr bullet, they were fine. This was also the minimum in the LaserCast manual. Now Hodgdon has increased that minimum up to 6.5gr, I have no idea why. That is way too hot for CAS (933fps).

Sixgun Seamus Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I was using 5.5 gr behind 200 gr. Another cowboy friend was using 4.7 gr/200 gr bullet. I switched to 4.7 almost 2 yrs ago with no problems.
Ranger Dan Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I use 4.5 gr and 200 gr bullets. Same for 44-40 180-200 gr bullets.
Wild Eagle Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I use 5.0 grains of TiteGroup behind a 200 grain bullet. 5.0 grains also works with Bullseye and Red Dot.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I just started loading some .45’s. I’m using 6.0 of HP38 with a 200 gr bullet . I’m only shooting them from a 24” 73 no pistols
