Sam, you can have it. So far the guy has sent me two different names, two different addresses in two different states. Something is not right.

Ooooh.  Sounds like he needs to keep it. Thanks for the heads up.

I spoke with Johnny and looks like someone was spamming him, pretending to be me.

I believe we have the issue resolved now.

Members are being scammed by outsiders (not even Wire members) pretending to be the seller and having the payment sent to them via Paypal

Communicate by PM.   No one can see your private messages except you and the seller.

Check your public profile and delete your contact information if you have added it.

Don't put any of these in public profile or a post:

  • email address
  • phone number
  • address

Take these basic steps to protect yourself!

I deleted that post once I was able to reach the seller. I finally figured out the the email contact was a scammer. The seller of that item is a good guy. The scammer contacted me by email using the sellers alias. It took me awhile to get it figured out. Johnny Meadows

It may be because you have your email listed in your profile, which allows scammers to act like the seller.

I suggest doing all business on this forum by PM. And only by PM.

I get you are in the business and you not only have had your email out there for years, you even have to have it out there. And you do business with it.

But you just got bit; glad you were able to resolve it. While you rely on your email for business, reliance is not the same as trust.

FWIW, I've done business with Cockney Rebel from Maryland -- He is a straight shooter.

Thanks Dawg, I appreciate your comment.  At least the money didn’t go to the wrong person in this case.
