Reloading 20 gauge

Dirt Slider

Recommended Posts

I’m looking for a good Cowboy load for a 20 gauge.  I have a Mec Sizemaster.
What powder and grains for 7/8 shot?

Thanks so much, Yusta B!   Just what I was looking for.

Surgeon…..   Black is always good.  But this is for Dusty Lady!

Here are my 20 ga. loads. I prefer the WSF powder for normal use. The 3/4 oz using Unique were lighter loads for my wife.

  20 Gauge - Cowboy

    Grains MEC
Oz Shot Powder Powder Bushing Wad Hull

3/4 Unique 13.7 #20 CB1075-20 Rem

7/8 Unique 15.1 #22 CB1078-20 Rem

7/8 WSF 16.6 #16 CB1078-20 Rem

I will concur that 15.1 of Unique under 7/8, and Remington RXP 20 wads worked for me in my SKB 20. But now I have an SKB 12 done by Doc Noper and I LOVE it.

I am reloading Remington STS Hulls with 10.0 grains of Alliant Green Dot behind a Claybuster CB-1075-20 wad & 3/4 oz. of #8 shot.

I load these for my wife's Ladies & Youth Stoeger 20 ga. SXS and it produces little kick .... similar to a 12 ga. Win. AA low recoil round. She has not had any problems with knocking down the targets (when she aims straight) with this load.

Unfortunately it is getting very hard, if not impossible, to find the Alliant Green Dot powder.

The very first load listed by Mr. Wilson is my daughter's preferred loading. Does a fine job.
