Subdeacon Joe
Found on FB Heinkel He-177 Greif (long-range heavy bomber) tail gunner climbing into position. The A-5’s Heckstand (tail position) was equipped with a 20mm MG 151/20 cannon. He is wearing the electrically heated two-piece “Channel” flying suit; 10-30 B-2 Schwimmwester (life preserver); Ruckenfallschirm (back parachute) and a LKp S101 flying helmet. 3

Trailrider #896
Not as bad as ball turret gunner on a B-17!
Abilene Slim SASS 81783
A B-17 tail gunner crawled to his station from the inside when it was time for combat. It appears this guy would have to sit there for the duration of the flight. I also wonder which was easier to get out of when it was time to hit the silk? My guess is the He-117?
DeaconKC
Hitler forbade Heinkel from building a traditional 4 engine variant instead of the linked engines. You wonder what would have happened if the Germans would have had a satisfactory heavy bomber?

watab kid
i agree , they didnt need them to reach england , but then they would have to reach the US and they would have needed some kind of island base to start from ,
DeaconKC
They would have been able to cover almost all of the British Isles and replaced the FW200 which was a very fragile aircraft. Also, it was capable of handling the FritzX which would have made it a true shipping killer. Ask the Roma...
