Lone Spur Jake SASS #7728 Posted April 26, 2023 Share Posted April 26, 2023 Ever tried to put a Badger on a leash? Not trying to heist this post, but did you know there are two types of Badgers? Was varmint hunting in Utica MT. country, where Charlie Russell cowboyed, and shot a Badger. Took it too a local taxidermist I knew and was told "just throw it away." What? She told me it's a "hair" Badger not a "fur" Badger. OK, what's the difference? She said feel the fur on mine and now feel the fur on a Badger she had finished. Looked the same, but definite difference in the feel. Hair Badgers are classified as "varmints" and legal to shoot all year long, but fur Badgers are not. She said "And by the way, if it had been a fur Badger it would have been out of season and I could be fined if caught". Well after that I became very hesitant abought shooting Badgers, especially since I knew the Judith Basin County Sheriff and some of the Fish and Game folks.
