Why did the British military wear Red Coats?

Recommended Posts

A British officer captured by the French was asked why they wore red coats as it only made them better targets. “It’s so that if I get shot, my soldiers won’t see my blood and lose heart”, the British officer said.

And that is why, ever since, French officers have worn brown trousers…

I have always said that if it wasn’t for the French and the aid they provided in the Revolutionary War we’d be speaking English now. Oh, wait…

If it wasn’t for the French we’d have had the monarchs’ portraits on our currency.

And then where would Harry and Meghan run off to?
