Pat Riot, SASS #13748 21,142
Are you talking height of the thumb pad of the hammer over the curve of the grip frame? I would say, other than “custom” that the Super Blackhawk hammer sits lowest. I believe the Montado is about the same height but you can’t get Montado hammers aftermarket or from Ruger, as far as I know. I have installed SBH hammers on my Vaqueros and they make a big difference.

Major E A Sterner #12916 264
The Ruger Bisley has the lowest hammer profile, But they have to be modified to work with the standard grip frame. Ruger will sell you 2 hammers every 30 days, they run about $36.00 each plus shipping. All you need is the serial number from your gun. I have bought both the Montado hammers and the Bisley hammer recently from Ruger.
Colorado Coffinmaker 3,380
Probably a 1/4 pound jewelers hammer. Won't be able to do much with it though.

Dantankerous 4,258
I see a lot of one handed Ruger shooters using lowered hammers, usually Super Blackhawk hammers. The hammer does make a big difference in how easy it is to reach your thumb to it. I know when I switched to Ruger Bisleys a whole new world of possibilities of shooting one handed opened up.
