Air Show ~ well, THAT worked out!

Recommended Posts

So Helen Brimstone is a big air show fan, and invited me to come along to Salinas, California, for this weekend's "California International Air Show."  International because of a bunch of fine Canadian flyers who participate...

Anyway, she really wanted to make the trip and see the F-22.  So we drive over Friday, doing some sightseeing along the way.  When we neared Salinas, I suggested we go directly to the airport and check it out in advance.  So we did...

We arrived and parked, climbed out of the car, and Dang!  Just in time to see the T-33, A-10, AND the F-22 do their practice maneuvers.  Basically, the same routines they'd be flying the next two days.  What a show!!  And we were the only ones there!!  It was GREAT!!!  :)  AND I had my old Kodak digital camera handy...

At the Saturday show (the one we had tickets for), the F-22 was to be the headliner event.  Sadly, however, after a couple of passes, they announced the plane was experiencing some sort of malfunction and was leaving immediately without completing it's demonstration.  Needless to say, there was a heck of a lot of disappointment...

But we got to see the whole thing!!  Sometimes things just work out...  *:D big grin

Saw the F-22 at a show in 2007. Had an F-15 at the same show. The things the Raptor did appeared to defy physics.

My question though, is why no Hog pics??? If I had been able to fly fighters, I would've wanted to fly A-10s.

Since you ask...

First one was snapped by Ms Brimstone with her cell phone ~ literally, a lucky shot... the A-10 and the F-22.  She calls the picture "Britney and Susan*."

* A few years ago, Helen B. was telling her son about seeing the A-10 and an F-18 at a show that afternoon... and just gushing over the '18.  "Mom!" said Richie... "You are SO shallow!  That's like comparing  Britney Spears to Susan Boyle!"

Second picture is the A-10 and a P-51... and then check out the tug!  ^_^

You don't like the sound of that thang?

I don't know what your point is... Meaning of course! What person in their right mind wouldn't want to fire a gun powerful enough to actually slow the airspeed of the aircraft firing it? That is meant to shoot TANKS for crying out loud! And sounds AWESOME when fired!
