Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Just watched Pierce Brosnan James Bond flick, "Golden Eye". It features a high-tech attack helicopter that looks similar to an AH-64 Apache. Bond and the Bond babe are trapped inside, but escape in an ejection pod that then comes down by parachute. Do these modern 'copters have such things, or have ejection seats?
Sedalia Dave
To the best of my knowledge there are two Russian design helicopters with a crew ejection system The Kaman Ka-50 Black Shark and the Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters. Both system use explosive bolts to jettison the rotor blades before the seat fires. The Army toyed with the implementing a crew module ejection system on the AH-1 Cobra helicopter but never followed through with the idea.
Major Crimes
I believe that helo is a Eurocopter Tiger. Australia bought the Tiger as its ARH (Armed Recon Helo). Believe me ours doesn't have half the gizmo's on the Bond one Ours doesn't have the eject system. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&ved=0ahUKEwjynvfXyYfUAhXDmJQKHcWrAP0QtwIIODAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dmi-A6eEdVjQ&usg=AFQjCNFBh6Hu7TnlDXlubQhGvQs1a-oKuQ https://www.army.gov.au/our-future/modernisation-projects/aviation-projects/arh-tiger

Reminds me of Pussy Galore's Flying Circus in the movie "Goldfinger". Her planes were Piper Cherokees with a huge "Piper" displayed on the engine cowling. Charlie Harley, #14153
Army rotor head here. No American helicopters are equipped with ejection seats. There are quick-release systems to get the doors off and unbuckle your harness in case of emergency, but if something goes wrong, we fly our aircraft all the way to the ground. Any landing you walk away from is a good landing. Being able to reuse the aircraft is a bonus.
Pat Riot
I asked a friend of mine, who's a helicopter pilot and instructor "What do you do in case of a crash"? He said "Crash".
Utah Bob #35998
If you're sitting in the door of a Huey and the 19 year old WO1 hits the LZ terra firma just a little to firmly...you will be ejected.
Colorado Coffinmaker
Kindly remember ...... It's simple physics. Helicopters DO NOT fly. They beat the atmosphere into submission.
