Pulp, SASS#28319
Turns out the only time it locks up is when you stuff the magazine. It seems the combination of magazine spring strength and recoil allows the next in line shell to back out just enough to lock up the action. Now the question is: how to fix it? For SASS it should work fine. For Wild Bunch, not so much.

Pulp, SASS#28319
Marshall, I wondered about that, was afraid I might cut off too much and it wouldn't have enough strength to push the last shell into the carrier.

Well, if you would buy a new spring anyway, try this first
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Take the end cap off the magazine. With the mag spring and follower in place. How many coils do you count past the end of the mag tube? Trim down to 3 1/2-4 coils. OLG
Cat Brules
Replace or re-arch the springs, in both cartridge stops. OLG Yes, listen to OLG as a first step. The shell is not "backing out." One of the cartridge stops is not holding and the increased magazine spring tension from fully loading the magazine is overcoming a weak cartridge stop spring or a worn cartridge stop. Assumiming your shotgun is a later model, BE SURE those tiny cartridge stop screws are not loose. Don't lose them. If this doesn't work, ask again. There's other, lesser possibilities, but from what you've said, this is likely.
Smuteye John SASS#24774
Trade it for a double. I was thinking '87 but that would work, too.
