Tell Sackett SASS 18436
Golden Globes- who cares??? I barely care about the Oscars. Or do I care at all?
Cat Brules
So, Golden Globes Awards are over: Leonardo DiCaprio won Best Actor "The Revenant" won "Best Motion Picture, Drama" Maybe I'll go see it......you'd think with all the other efforts, they'd try to go for a full measure of authenticity. But, with foreign director and others, that last measure that denotes true professionalism.....competency.....just is not there.

Cat Brules
1971 A Man in the Wilderness with John Houston and Richard Harris was a great Movie I'm going to see this remake and see if it lives up to that one. Just sayin' Big Jake Where have you been holed up! Haven't seen you on here for some time. I agree, regarding the Houston/Harris version. I also think it was a good film. Houston had this almost "Captain Ahab" persona. The desolate frozen ground surroundings in that film will be tough to beat. I think this new one might be fun to see, even after marking it down for (what I have heard are) obvious lapses in directorial due diligence/oversight responsibilities regarding reality/authenticity errors. Trailrider #896
Barely watched the show, but what I couldn't figure out was "The Martian" winning "Best Motion Picture Comedy" movie! That was a comedy? Great movie, but a comedy? Maybe they figured they had a better chance at winning if they put the movie in that category, but
Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
In my opinion "Bridge of Spies" was by far the best movie of the year. However, it only received one nomination and that was for Supporting Actor. Go figure!
Cat Brules
The Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. There's about 100 members, and they vote on US and foreign films. I'm sure most of them exist on some undesireable plane....a separate hothouse reality, incompatible with the reality of life. So, their logic patterns are driven by influences also incompatible with real life. Pretty much a distilled, high-octane version of the goofy, hysterical schoolgirl, high-on-unicorn-farts mentality that pervades the rest of left-wing-socialist America.
