Rootin Tootin Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I have a short stroke kit I want to sell but not sure if it's C&I or PGW. One of the links has 3 punch dots. I think it's C&I third generation but not sure. I want to be sure before I list it........Thanks........Rootin Tootin
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Have you considered calling either one of them & asking if they mark their links in that manner??
Gawd Awful Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Have you considered calling either one of them & asking if they mark their links in that manner?? Are you asking for logic on the sass wire???? We can't have that. It would interfere with all the name calling, whining, and beating of dead horses. What are you thinking????
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 C&I definitely uses punch marks on theirs. The punches tell how long the link is, rather than the generation. Different lengths of the locked-up toggles allows for adjusting headspace to get it very close. The generation can be determined by looking at how the actuator slot is cut in the toggle. A picture would be worth a thousand measurements! Good luck, GJ

I don't know what I was thinkin' ...obviously off my meds when I posted that one...or was I ON the meds? ...just checked the time stamp...I'd just got home from first day back @ w**k & in a rush to head up the canyon to a bluegrass concert. Hit the "send" button without really considering what I'd written.

Saw a photo of one of these recently … ( think it was in the classified here … but if so … it has aged off the listings … can't find it anymore). ... anyhow ... It was marked as you describe and at the time I wondered if this might be an intentional identifier. Pete
