Okie Sawbones, SASS #77381 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 BCS Rankings for the Championship Bowls (projected, not final) #1 Auburn vs. #2 Oregon -- National Championship... good #7 Arkansas vs. #6 Ohio State -- Sugar Bowl... good #3 TCU vs. #5 Wisconsin -- Rose Bowl... good #15 VT vs. #4 Stanford -- Orange Bowl... not so good #9 OU vs. Unranked UConn -- Fiesta Bowl... stinks So #8 MSU and #10 LSU get left out in the cold while an unranked team goes to the Fiesta Bowl, and a #15 ranked team goes to the Orange Bowl. I'll leave it up to you to decide how tha BCS did. Me? I don't see how the very weak Big East Conference deserves an automatic BCS Bowl bid. The Mountain West is a better conference, especially now that Boise is moving over there. BCS -- C-
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I have no problem with the #1 & #2 picks But there are some holes in the rest of the cheese.
Spanish Bit Bobb Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 cood be tha computer programmer iz on tha take.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Or he likes cheese?
Grampaw Willie, SASS No.26996 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 we all know the BCS is 20 grs short of a full load. but what they hey? there are 60 games in the toilet bowel series now which I regard as a great blessing: it puts something worth watching on tv
rippin kid Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Fiesta Bowl should be WVU not UConn. Go Mountaineers!!
Sneaky Gun Runner SASS 79775 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 The Big 12 Championship game shoulda been the bowl game. Man, that was great football.
Willie Wheelgun Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I know we are talking college ball, but probably the best football game I have seen this season was the Sunday Night match-up between the Ravens and Steelers. That was just plain good old smash mouth football. Like Cosgrove said, I could watch that game a dozen times and not get tired of it.
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Didn't know that the BCS EVER got it right
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I didn't see SLIPPERY ROCK in there! These ranking can't be all that good. In fact these rankings are rank. We want Slippery Rock.
Carolina Cowboy Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Was watching a show this weekend,(ESPN) and they said that the BCS is only there to ensure the number one team plays against the number two in the nation so that there is a clear cut number One, in that, 'This Season" they may have succeed, close anyway....but the only true way to crown the real number one is a playoff, but this year the 2 best teams in the Nation are most likely playing each other in the last game of the season
Uno Mas SASS #80082 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 . It'd been nice if the 'puter put Stanfurd and Virginia Tech in the Rose Bowl. And the TCU Horned Froggies and Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl. But, yah can't expect a bunch of Chinese parts to respect the tradition of a Pac 10 team bowling in the Rose Bowl. BTW, I hope and expect mouthy TCU to get gigged by the Wiz Badgers.

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 That was the OLD program, Marshal. When there was a rhythm to the world. The new and improved version according to BCS or BSC as I call it, has changed the spots on the leopard.

Now, no one take this wrong, cause I'm NOT bad-mouthing either team, but are Iowa and Missouri fans amp'ed up to watch a game that starts at 9:00pm on a Tuesday Night? This one isn't.
Spanish Bit Bobb Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I miss awl those big bowl games bein' played on New Years Day, but then again...
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 My take is that some are pretty good matchups while others look like some kind of fairy tale. But I guess it is all designed to generate $$$$ for the colleges. I guess that isn't all bad. Rather give it to the schools than to some over paid pros.
Marshal Chance Morgun Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Badger, You know more than I do about this, but I think I heard that some teams actually lose $$$ on the bowl games
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 That could be Marshal. You can only get so many folks into the stands and the teams get a cut of the gate I believe. But not sure about knowing more than you about it. BUT the sponsors get a real bargan for their buck with a lot of folks watching on TV. Of course some bowl games get bigger audience attention than others. As the number of bowls increases it will most likely cut into the profits of those that profit, so we will see a time down the line when the college bowl game is going to be so so. The real winners are the networks that sell time to advertisers and then there is the lead in with the sports shows of TV for weeks before the game, and the sports bars that sell beer and food for those that can not make the game. And don't forget the garment makers for folks that just have to have that hat or jacket like the ones that the winning team wears. Heck fire, this bowl thing is a cottage industry right here in River City.

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hey Badger, I can see it now The 2012 SASS Bowl. And if you see BMC as offensive coordinator for the Possum Trot Polecats, you will know that SASS has arrived.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 it's all about the money Yeah, I suppose 50,000 Connecticut tv sets are worth more to advertisers than 50,000 West Virginia sets. sets
