  1. @Santee do you do all your own research or do you have others that help out? Asking for a friend.
  2. I like the reloading process of brass shells. Of course it takes longer than plastic hulls and plastic wads, but, I get into a zone and it’s relaxing. I work out in my shop, alone, no music, no noise and just focus on what I’m doing. I have a routine that I follow, it works for me and as long as I follow it I know that each shell is done right.
  3. Not to mention that once you have your load down pat you can trim the 3 inch shells down
  4. Just what I paid Midway $150. That’s for 2,500 caps. Sorry, earlier I said it was 1,000 caps but when I thought about it and looked again it is 2,500 in the package.
  5. OK you got me on that one a Manhattan conversion gate? What’s that?
  6. Sorry to hear the change of travel plans. I feel for you it’s 75 down here today. Be careful driving and I’ve got to hear this shooting story.
  7. I have 2,500 RWS 1075 caps that I’ll be bringing to sell if anyone is interested please let me know. They are brand new, un-fired
  8. @Widder, SASS #59054 @Tennessee williams you’ve got your “ ‘nanner splits” but we got this King Cake and Praline sundae during Mardis Gras. @Krazy Kajun
  9. I know you’re retired, so I would never ask you to work on the guns. If you’re like me I’ve never been busier since I retired, almost makes me want to go back to work just to relax a little . I was just hoping you might could point me in the right direction. Who knows I may just tackle this one myself, there’s probably discussions and maybe a YouTube video out there on how to do it. If not I’ll just stay at a Holiday Inn Express while I’m doing it
  10. I’ll be shooting Frontiersman, I know you’ve got to defend from last year’s win. I’ve signed up for 2 big matches already, both Frontiersman, this might just become a trend for me. Thanks for the generous offer, first I’ve got to decide Army or Navy.
  11. Once I find what I like and then manage to find a brace of them (not so easy these days ) we’ll have to talk about those things. Goal = beat you at your own game at TN State this year
  12. I never mind hearing from you, who put the rakes on for you? After everything I’ve heard I know I’m going to be looking for Pietta’s, I don’t want to deal with arbor headaches.
  13. @Colorado Coffinmaker what do you think about cap rakes? Needed?
  14. @Diamond Jake I couldn’t tell you what brand. I was using 2 wads and they definitely weren’t waxy, kinda smelled like bore butter on them..
  15. Yep had the same problem couple of weeks ago, must be popular. Me on the other hand, I haven’t had to clean my mailbox in over a year.
  16. No, I don’t measure pressure I just pull the handle until I get a good firm seating. As someone told me don’t overthink it, it’s black powder not rocket science. In the 1800’s things weren’t so complicated.
  17. I’m going to Dark Days next week and I’m hoping that I’ll get a chance to hold both an Army and a Navy C&B pistol. Besides the grip feel/thickness is there anything else that i should be looking for? Also is there a big difference between ‘51/60/61/62 models besides the look? I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to hold each year/type combination.
  18. I’m sure you’re right about that, but I like’em tight.
  19. If you look at Dixie Gunworks they seem to have quite a few both Pietta and Uberti in stock.
  20. See that’s what I like about the fiber, rinse barrels with water, dry, swab with either bore butter or Ballistol (when it’s cold). No scrubbing, no fuss, no muss. I guess the time spent is either up front in loading or on the back end cleaning. YMMV
