  1. I like the things Alton Brown does. For me, though, a grilled cheese, or griddled cheese, if you prefer, is something that is simple, fast, and tasty. While what he did sounds good, it is neither simple nor fast.
  2. I would beg to differ. While I am not what I would call a fan of the band as a whole, they have done plenty of original music. With rare exception, I've never had a problem with covers, so long as artists attempt to do something other than just mimic the original. From my perspective, covering a song is a high form of praise. Yet, if an artist or band simply attempts to re-do the original, then as an artist, they aren't really doing anything worthy of listening to instead of the original. Sure, opinions may and will vary on this, though.
  3. I like 'em both. Been known to listen to them back to back.
  4. I don't think I'll ever forget the time my First Sergeant was talking about a Master Sergeant in our unit. "He provided far side security for Moses at the Red Sea."
  5. Now, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but if California were to secede, wouldn't that void a number of agreements giving California priority regarding water, such as that from the Colorado? If that were to happen, would that severely hamper California's agriculture industry, among other things? Would many of their products then be considered imports and subject to tariffs? Would manufacturers decide to not export things like motor vehicles, or at least price them accordingly, since their CARB standards are burdensome to manufacturers?
  6. Yes it is. It is also entirely possible that the person who came up with it is a Marine. I work with a couple, one prior service, and one currently in the Marine Reserve. It is a longstanding joke.
  7. The only thing I do in this world passably well right handed is shoot. And it doesn't look like she's sweeping so much as clearing.
  8. A friend of mine in high school drove one.
  9. Can't you give a guy a warning? Had to clean my monitor off. Of course, after a warning, you'd make everyone shiver with antici... ...pation.
  10. It is hands down my favorite movie, and you're absolutely right that Max was the perfect counterpart for Professor Fate! Of course, then there's Maggie DoBois
  11. Lady Gaga is her stage name, not her real name. Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. I am not a fan and don't really care for her music, but she does have an amazing voice and is quite talented. If you've never seen it, she was the singer who did tribute to Julie Andrews and the Sound of the Music at the Academy Awards in 2015, and impressed Julie Andrews herself, as well as plenty of others, in so doing. I can only imagine what she will do during the half time show, though. As for the game itself, I don't have a dog in the fight either. I doubt I will be watching, but I'll rooting for Atlanta. I've just never been able to get behind the Patriots. I was secretly hoping that they and the Steelers would both lose, but I suppose in the end, I grudgingly preferred the Patriots. I know far too many annoying Steelers fans, including many who are otherwise good friends of mine.
  12. Flat, although I'd love to give one of the "Fastback" types a try.
  13. The NFL running back? I was a freshman his senior year of high school at Columbus South High. Nice guy, with AMAZING leaping ability. He was better known for basketball and track in high school. Of course, we didn't have much of a football team. I was good friends with his cousin throughout high school.
  14. Usually when my thoughts are idling, not much creative happens.
  15. You mean Stumpy?
  16. Most memorable character from the big screen, Professor Fate from The Great Race. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86ZnWc1B7W4
  17. Add me to the list of Blues fans. Old Delta Blues, Chicago Blues, Electric Blues, Blues based rock, etc... The biggest reason I couldn't get into the "shredder movement" when rock guitar went that direction, was because of my love of the Blues. I've said many times, if the music doesn't make you feel something, it isn't being done right.
  18. The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is one of the best military history books I've read. Possibly the best. Amazing the levels of courage. There's a reason I refer to October 25th as Underdog Day: Battle of Agincourt, 1415 Battle of Balaclava, 1854 Battle Off Samar, 1945 Survivors of the Johnston reported a Japanese officer aboard one ship saluting as she sank. High praise from them.
  19. WOW!!! Amazing work, again!
  20. I never fail to think of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_fq4RQgwuA

    Mozart

    Beat me to it.
  22. Ditto. I think if you check, she worked for the CIA, but wasn't a field agent at the time. The biggest problem with her being "outed" was that it put her former cover company and agents claiming to work for it in danger.
  23. Hmmm... I'm trying to think. I haven't met too many celebrities that I can recall. I met Terry Cummings, who played for the San Antonio Spurs once when I was in San Antonio during Desert Storm. Seemed like a decent enough guy. Every inch of 6'9" though! Dizzy Gillespie and a band mate almost ran over my wife coming off of an elevator once. Very apologetic, but not wanting to wait around. Dave Chappelle held the door open at a deli in Yellow Springs, Ohio for my wife and I. He was sitting at a table outside, and got up and opened it, while continuing to talk to a friend. I thanked him, he nodded. It didn't dawn on me who it was until we were inside. Just as well, he evidently is a fairly private person, and likes that the people in the area respect that. I met several of the men from The Band of Brothers who toured with the USO. The original vets, not the actors, including Babe Heffron, Bill Guarnere, Don Malarkey, and others. Fascinating conversation. I do have a painting by Buck Taylor signed to me, that my wife got at the Quarter Horse Congress some years back. Sadly, I didn't get to meet him, and he wasn't there the following year, but she said he was a very nice guy.
  24. Now I'd rather have guns. OK, maybe a claymore...
  25. I don't recall the first I read, and I can't say how many, although it was nowhere near all of them. For the longest time, I wanted a sword cane like Ham had, though.
