Marlin Carrier 44mag

Are you running specials instead of loaded down mag brass? We used 44 mag brass for loads in Boomer's Marlin to maintain longer OAL. -
A LGS near me has two for sale, great prices. I didn't look at them for condition. Marlin 39A 22lr 1961 $599 Marlin 39A 22lr 1987 $629

Could be an older primer drop to be. MEC did have priming systems that worked wire tubes instead of the tray type. Prior user may have changed it to a tray system. The tubes may fit if they are large enough for 209 primers. A friend had the tube style and said he used a longer proper size curtain rod that would hold more primers. I sold a MEC 650 with tube feed. Turned a piece of aluminum tubing to fit.

You need a pusher like this. I have different types and shapes. Sell them at local matches. Some attach to a bullet bag/ block others hang it on their knife or in an extra ammo loop on their belt.

Great price for that package. Well worth 4x the price. I bought 2 Mec 600 jr's at a yard sale a couple years ago, found a couple missing parts and flipped them, more than doubled my investment. The primary parts missing on these presses are the priming cup, anvil and spring. Primer catch trays are usually gone but any small plastic works.

Smokeless, just wipe them off before sizing and de-priming on my Size master. I like to find problem hulls prior to loading on my Grabber. I will wash black powder shells if I want to reuse the hulls. Wash them in a bucket of soapy water outside. I did them in the kitchen sink one time many years ago. Thought I could get it done before my wife and daughter returned home from shopping. Didn't work, I got the stinky eye from both of them as the kitchen smelled like the fireside circle on Blazing Saddles with all the cowboys eating them beans.

Stirring this pot will not produce anything positive for our sport. Vote was taken, rules and regulations were established.- 13 replies

You need more room if the stage has doorways, windows or props to work around.

Sounds like you may be looking at a Jimmy Spurs rifle. They are smooth, I handled one but never shot one. I have a set of Ruger's, they are smooth. The 24" barrel can always be cut down later if you decide to.

Which one feels better to you? Looking at Taylor's web site. Taylor tuned models are short stroked. I have 2 Taylor Comanchero's, they are short stroked. About the same a my Cody cut and weld short stroke rifles. I prefer the 20" over a 24" rifle for reasons stated above. Plus you can always add a C&I short stroke package.

Bonus for black powder? What’s the penalty for falling over? -
A different kind of Derringer Side Match
J.S. Sooner, SASS #73526 replied to H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619's topic in SASS Wire
We have used a derringer or pocket pistol on stages before. Always load off the clock, started with gun in hand, two handed firing allowed. Just had to hit the cardboard target (very close) and place the derringer on the prop when finished. I wouldn't run a stage with reloads and movement with a derringer. IMO it would be unsafe and present many opportunities to sweep others. Not a good thing to do on the clock. -

The time has come, setup is tomorrow and the show starts Saturday at 9:00 AM. We have 37 members that signed up to help staff the show booth, however there are still three evening shifts without any help for Misty. Wed. 8th, Thurs. 9th & Sat. 11th, if you are planning on attending the show on any of these dates and could lend a hand, even for an hour or two, it would be most helpful. Dress the part in “Cowboy” clothes, stop by and help Misty for a while. SASS booth has been changed and we are now located at Booth #350, midway down the hall from the NRA booth.

Over the past few years we have been hoping that SASS would be an exhibitor at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg. We almost had a booth in 2014, but timing was not on our side. Dates for the Shot Show and NRA convention didn’t provide enough time to ship the booth for use at all three shows. This year SASS has made that commitment, there will be a Cowboy Action Shooting booth at the show. Their space will be located in the Shooting Sports Hall, booth #880. The Great American Outdoor Show scheduled to be held February 4-12, 2017 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Misty Moonshine is flying in to run the booth, she needs help staffing the booth and help inform attendees of what SASS cowboy action shooting is and how the game is played. It is a long show, 9 days long. We have set time slots, two per day. If you are planning to attend the show perhaps you could help staff the booth part of the day. Currently there are seven slots where Misty is without any help. With this show bring in about 200,000 attendees, it would provide needed exposure to the sport we all enjoy. I am hopeful that this will help generate some interest in the show and inspire others to volunteer to staff the booth. It is a great opportunity to recruit new shooters. In order to get information out to helpers Misty has posted January 5th as the deadline for signup. You could contact Misty directly at: misty@sassnet.com or call the office at 505-843-1320. To sign up please follow this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040f4da4ae2ca02-thegreat1 On the sign up page, select the time you can help, check the “Sign Up” box and click on “Submit and Sign Up” at the bottom of the page. You will be taken to another page to fill in your name and email. The qty box is where you can indicate the number of helpers, if you are signing up another helper at the same time. You could use your real name or alias. I would suggest putting your alias in the comments field if you sign up with your real name. Misty is pulling information off this sign up page so she can provide show information directly to each volunteer . Regards, JS Sooner
