MEC 9000gn bushing for BP shotgun load
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Renegade Roper's topic in SASS Wire
I just ran down and pulled the bushing I am using on my Mec jr for a 1oz square load and it is the Mec # 46 bushing. Using 2f real black. But if you are going to use APP would suggest only to use the 3f as the 2f is very chunky. -
I have a PW 375 12ga that needs a new home. Asking $175.00. If interested can bring to the PA State Shoot. (WILL NOT SHIP don't even bother to ask} But will meet within reason to the Harrisburg area. Any questions feel free to ask. Will also include assorted PW bushings. Sgt Hochbauer

Looks to me to be a Lee press to load rifle/pistol cartridges. If you unscrew one of the dies it should have the caliber on there. Hope this helps. Hochbauer

Taylor's TC73 Rifle -- Can it be short-stroked?
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Cholla's topic in SASS Wire
I would contact Cody Conagher about doing a short stroke on that rifle. He recently did an action job on my Miroku 73 very nice. Also several other firearms. Hochbauer -
Anyone still casting the "Big Lube" Bullets?
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Ustas B. Slim 24680's topic in SASS Wire
I was fortunate and fell into a 6cavity big lube .44cal mold and 12 sticks of bp lube for the sum of $35.00. Its always good to look at the used stuff at a match you never know what you will find. Hochbauer -
I had the same issue with my SDB and it was the height of the primer cup needed a little adjustment. Back in business. But am going to spring and send the press back to dillon for a overhaul. Hochbauer

Care of BP Shotgun Choke Tubes
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Doc Altman SASS#74468's topic in SASS Wire
What Colorado said works perfect. I pretty much do the same thing on my 87 when I clean it after a match. I basically just shoot Goex. Hochbauer -
Blackpowder shooters gun cart ideas
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Renegade Roper's topic in SASS Wire
I usually forget to bring the bottle with soapy water with me. That said the brass might not get soaked for a day or two. Most of my 44wcf brass is stained but always clean. Once its dry after soaking it then gets into the tumbler with crushed walnut media and tumbled for a few hours. Hochbauer -
Thoughts on this Trapdoor
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Flanigan Flats's topic in SASS Wire
There is a book by Joe Foyer and Craig Riesch and the title is The 45-70 Springfield. It has info on probably any model of trapdoor that was made and variations. It gives the most minute details that you can even imagine. Hope this helps. I have a carbine and a modified cadet model. Hochbauer -
I had mine done by Cody Conagher he is located in WV. Hochbauer

Shooters World Clean Shot
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 replied to Dirty Dan Dawkins's topic in SASS Wire
Clean Shot has become my new favorite smokeless powder for .38 and for 12ga shotgun. I am also going to use that for .45 acp and 9mm have not gotten to that as of yet. Hochbauer -
Anyone have a Lee .456 conical bullet mold gathering dust that needs a new home? Want to give this a try instead of round balls in the ROA's. Hochbauer

Here in PA we are done for the season shooting outdoors. But we do have an indoor shoot January and February pistol and rifle only. No black powder. Today was the January match and I got to use my 1911. It was a fun match,an excuse to shoot and hang with some good people. I don't believe anyone gave a hoot that I shot 1911. But I did check in advance with the match director that it would be ok. Hochbauer

My friend and his friend will be joining SASS the have begun to buy guns. For the time being they are planning on sharing the expense of a rifle. One has a mind to get a Henry big boy in 38 spcl. Please share your opinions good or bad aside from price why he should or should buy this for SASS. They have already shot one match using my 66 in 44 wcf and 38 spcl Vaqueros Thanks Sgt H
