Well, I got my start today! I joined SASS, got my Uberti Compitition 73($500 and a Mossberg 500!) and I already had my 97 Winchester. Just waiting on my SASS edition Vaqueros to come in from John Barleycorn!
If the lever is open and the bolt is away from the chamber how can the round fire out of battery if the FIring pin can't reach the round?
*Side Note*
It's always polite to contact the manufacturer before going on public forums with unhappy rants. I always stand behind all my products and support SASS/shooters to the fullest.
Slick.
Like new factory stock for Marlin XT-17 w/ bull barrel, should also fit 22 Magnum version of the same rifle. Brown laminate, nice stock but I replaced it with a custom thumbhole. No hardware. Pics available.

The phantom trigger is a one piece trigger sear design. For that reason it can not allow the lever safety to work as it was designed. That is why the factory trigger is a 2 piece. The happy trigger works like a factory 2 piece but has a spring in it to remove the flop. The happy trigger will work with the lever safety.
Never an issue with Mrs. Doc. She has a nickname that is a play on Mario Andretti's name. We were looking for a new vehicle for her one time and during a test drive, the salesman commented "I notice you're an aggressive driver." I think she is actually stressing about replacing her dying Subaru because of the dearth of manual transmission choices available. If we could afford it, I have a feeling she would end up with a WRX.
I find it humorous how folks get their undies in a knot when folks talk about old model Vaqueros, new model Vaqueros, Flat Tops, 3 screws, and new model Blackhawks. Who gives a rats butt if there are common understood names given to things. Most everyone knows what Featherlites are but Winchester never called them that, at least that I recall.
I don't believe that is correct about dropping the "new". Every new one I have seen anywhere still has the new on it.
As for the ambiguity of old model versus original model, does it really matter which is correct if everyone understands what you're talking about? There's no such thing as 45 long colt either, but if someone says it I know exactly what they mean. And on the rare times I have purchased 45 colt ammo, I always ask for long colt, since I have been handed a box of 45 acp quite a few times when I asked for 45 colt. Sometimes you just have to adapt to the local colloquialisms. Someone once said you can either be right or you can be happy. I think that was for marriage advice, but often it applies here as well. Life is just too short to get your panties in a wad over something so trivial.

Ruger will not sell Montado hammers. Charlie your best bet is to install Super Blackhawk hammers. Same profile as Montado but grooves on spur instead of checkering. The grooves actually provide better traction in my opinion.
I have several Muslim friends. Two are doctors who have practiced medicine in this community for 40 years.
Another is a woman from Turkey who was a secretary in our office for years, whose son was terribly wounded in US Army service in Iraq, and who has risked her own life speaking out against Islamic extremism in many public forums.
