Colorado Coffinmaker
How ANNOYING!! Trying to open an attached YouTube piece and being required to "Sign In to Prove Your Not a Bot" Horse Pucky. Has nothing to do with whether or not you're a BOT!! It's a Phising SCAM to acquire your information. Information that will eventually be sold. I REFUSE TO COMPLY!! 2

Pat Riot
I am also very leery of things like that. Usually I just won’t bother going any further. I keep debating on getting a VPN, but then maybe that wouldn’t work because their verification probably wouldn’t work. I feel the same way about watching TikTok videos. I just don’t. I don’t care how hilarious, dramatic or informative the video might be.
Colorado Coffinmaker
Hey Pat Riot 😀 My suggestion is seriously SKIP THE VPN!! My Sweetheart had to take BOTH her iPads to the Apple Genius Gurus to have the VPNs removed as they completely prohibited her pads from accessing the internet. VPN ain't all their cracked up to be.

I went to the Apple Store a couple times and I said, I only need a Apple smart guy not a genius. 1
Subdeacon Joe
I've noticed that if I use a different device than the last time I've gone to a site I have to log in again. If I clear cookies I always have to log in again. Sometimes if I just do a shut down and restart I have to log in again. Not every request to sign in or log in is a scam.

Thank you. I was on the fence about VPN on my iPhone. Now I am not. I appreciate it.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I was getting that a lot and being stubborn likewise refused. It’s gone away though.
Sedalia Dave
It has something to do with imbedding you tube videos in a forum post and the privacy settings of the video you are wanting to watch. Happens all the time on my iphones but has almost never happens on my Android tablet. Never happens when using my PC. When it happens on my iphone I put me finger over the video and eventually i'll get a pop up that allows me to copy the URL of the video. Paste this into the browser on my phone and I can play it every time no problem. Edited December 7, 2024 by Sedalia Dave 1
bgavin
If no IT support is around, call a grand child. Especially if it concerns your phone. As far as removing a VPN, I suppose this is akin to somebody needing a gunsmith to remove a magazine or the bolt. What is unfamiliar for one, is commonplace for somebody else. One thing about the Apple products... they are a closed system. They are not designed to use 3rd party or jail-broken components. This is why stock Apple plays so well for the average user. Colorado Coffinmaker
Common Joe. I never said every request for a "Log-In" is a Scam. I said this "Prove you're not a Bot" crap is a Scam. A condescending attitude is also not appreciated.

Yesterday there were several posts of the, paraphrasing, "Can't see it without signing in!!! I ain't givin' no information 'cause it's a scam!!!!" Remember a couple of days ago a spammer posted garbage on every one of the fora here? Dollars to doughnuts whoever or whatever did that also gleaned information from the users while they were doing it. The just-short-of-paranoid whinging about not being able to see something, or having to log or sign in, especially if it's to a site that the people likely often use, is tiresome. I can understand not wanting to create an account as those often ask for a credit card, even if it's a free account. But lor'-luv-a-duck! just signing in?
