SOLD As New Model 1874 C. SHARPS .50-140 w/Extras

Recommended Posts

SOLD.  This is an As New, likely unfired, C. Sharps Model 1874 rifle chambered in the massive  .50-140.  It has a heavy 34" tapered octagon barrel with a mat finish to cut glare. Sights are a C. Sharps midrange vernier tang, spirit level globe and buckhorn rear.  Straight grip stock is a semi-fancy Walnut with nice figure. Shotgun butt with checkered steel buttplate.  German Silver Hartford forend tip. Double set triggers.  LOP is 14". Has minor Safe Rash and two odd dings on forendtip. Using the C. Sharps website calculator,  this rifle would cost around $3900 to build today and you would probably wait two years or more to get it. Adding to this is a set of RCBS dies and 85 BELL cases, 60 of which are new. The whole shebang can be yours for $3400 + Shipping to your FFL.

Now that’s a buffalo gun!

Yep. Shoot it from Florida and kill a water buffalo in Africa. Wasn't Bisley Joe looking for something like this last year?

I heard firing it isn't so bad. The trouble is filing the environmental impact statement each time the bullet impacts the ground and sets off seismic earthquake sensors around the region.

Sooooo tempting.

I can make it easy, relatively speaking. 😉

Can you come down any?

You can't receive messages. Might be a LITTLE wiggle room, but it is minty, ready to shoot and, all in, about $1K less than it would cost to order, wait and buy reloading components for.  What would you offer?  I have a couple of lip chewers who I think will eventually give in.  But I might be more interested in moving it and reinvesting return.

Try my PMs now.  I just cleared out a decade of messages.  I'm still chewing my lip.

THE BRASS IS WORTH A FORTUNE!  I have just yanked a 50-140 barrel from a C. Sharps with lots of custom features as I couldn't find or afford the cases to shoot it!

Dies and brass alone make it a worthwhile purchase.

Does it wake up your neighbors in the NEXT COUNTY OVER?!?!?:o:D

I took it last month to our SASS match for an after lunch shoot.  It is not as bad as some may think although it does kick a little. Using 650 grain bullets now. Was using 685 grain bullets.  I've got about 30 or 40 cases. It is fun to shoot !
