Alpo
I decided this did not belong in the FUNNY pictures thread. It's a red tail hawk, not an eagle. But it's still a cool picture. 10
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
If he’s there regularly buy a couple mice. Release them and have a camera ready. 1
Cypress Sun
I saw a bald eagle perched just like that, by the time I turned around to get a pic, he'd flown off.
Eyesa Horg
The other day, we passed a Bald eagle on the side of the interstate just south of here. They are so cool to see!!
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
Dead of winter. Took the new guy to the outfall where our wastewater plant discharged into the Federally protected Black River. River was frozen over thick enough to walk on, but the discharge was still open, getting a routine sample was not a problem a'tall. Except for the new guy. Y'see, the outfall put water into the river that was higher in oxygen content, was considerably cleaner, than the native flow. It was also warmer. Fish like warmer, cleaner, more oxygenated water. Eagles like fish. The new guy got the telescoping sampling pole extended, clamped the bottle in it, removed the screw cap, lowered the pole and got the sample. No problem. He was bringing the pole up hand over hand, he'd just screwed the lid on the jar and brought the handle up and laid it over so he could loosen the clamp and extract the capped bottle, when he noticed the first eagle perched a little above, looking very directly at him. I took the sample bottle. Good thing. When he looked around and saw four eagles, all perched in close, he dropped the sample pole, lucky enough not into the river. He was never entirely comfortable afterwards. 3
