What if the Romans had won the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest?

I'm reading a Kindle book where the historian JFC Fuller https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._F._C._Fuller thought if the Romans had won the battle it could have drastically changed European history.  Fuller was of the opinion that such a victory would have prevented the Germanic tribes and other tribes from uniting together, meaning no Kaiser Wilhelm and WWI as well as no Hitler and WWII.  No Napoleon and no British Empire (which would have world wide implications).

Thoughts?

Had Annie Oakley missed a shot, there wouldn't have been a Kaiser Wilhelm and probably no WWI. No WWI and there probably be no Hitler or reason for WWII...at least not on the German end anyway.

Staple of time travel SF for a long time.

One of the best examples is Delenda Est, an 1955 story by Poul Anderson, which has time travelers killing Scipio Africanus with the result that Hannibal eventually defeated Rome. What ensued was a Celtic/Carthaginian culture in place of a Greco-Roman one for Europe.

The Time Patrolmen have to straighten it out.....

Many tales along those lines. Pick any important battle. What if Harold Godwinson defeated William of Normandy at Hastings? And so on.....

There were around 1700 intervening years, any conjectures are just mental masturbation.

I would call it interesting speculation! We do often think of a lot of 'might-have-beens' in life....
