Original Winchester 97 Slide Hangs

Waimea

Recommended Posts

I have an original Winchester 97 that the slide hangs.

By hangs I mean when you slam it closed it won't easily slide back to eject the spent shell.

I had one of these a long time ago and kind of remember it was something simple but maybe not.

Your kind comments are appreciated.

If you are referring to when you slam it closed, don't fire a round, then try to open (like when practicing), slightly push the forend forward then pull it back.  When firing a live round, recoil does this for you.

Ok

Will try pushing forend forward.

This happens randomly after firing a live round, the slide jams in the forward position.

I mostly slamfire but sometimes not.

I am not gentle with it.

JWAG    But there is ring around the mag tube under the forearm.   It's a narrow steel band that looks like a lock washer.   It cushions the forearm to help the action unlock.   You have to remove the forearm to see it.    Good luck     More guesses to come and maybe a better explanation     GW

There is no other way to shoot!

Once an Outlaw, always an Outlaw.
