I do like the Uberti .44 Russian. Hardly the 'best' revolver ever, but an accurate pistola, and with beautiful, unique lines.

I love the second finger groove below the trigger.

Definitely on my list of wants

I had a COP for a short while. The trigger was so stiff it would rupture a bull elephant, and it was so inaccurate I couldn't stand in a swimming pool and make a splash.

I traded it for a Whitney .22 that was so poorly made I was afraid to shoot it.  (I wasn't real gun savvy in those days.  I got better...expensively, but better.)

I have owned sall of the others, still have the 1911 and 1903 Colts.  I ran through about a dozen Lugers back when you could but a pretty good one for $50.00 or so, and my PPK was a WWII piece that a man in my church brought home.

I will say, my 1873 is quickly becoming a top 5...I have actually found myself just staring at it after cleaning.IMG_20230119_174008_533.thumb.jpg.63fbbd59b5495164fc8628c47f50dc11.jpg

I can relate to that.  My wife gave me mine for Christmas in 1982, long before I ever heard of CAS and it is still absolutely gorgeous.

This is a dream.....I know some think it's tacky...but some deep relieve engraving makes me feel a bit like marriage.52750d166eaa71e9c6ab5ac8ae14d01e.jpg.7de81af5de71a6f72ddf43a86028a811.jpg

I'm usually immune to engraved guns, not always, but usually.  These could be one of the "unusual" guns.

Something about the angular yet rounded lines of these guns with an octagon barrel...mmmmm

I love em, I am in the market for some stainless Piettas.....then money will be saved for the sole purpose to make my cowboy guns into a gawdy mess....I want to engrave these things HEAVY...like to do my 73 too.

I think a David Price flintlock ranks in elegance right up there with nearly any firearm ever made.

But alas, just like a fine, hand-crafted Purdy shotgun, none are to be had within my budget.

Scroll down to view “Projects”

His rifles are works of art

To answer the original question:  "utilitarian" for me.
#1 for me is absolute reliable operation.
Don't care at all what it looks like (my truck is proof of this).

I'll play!

The S&W K22 Masterpieces made in the 1930s had the finest adjustable sight ever designed.  Two screws each for windage and elevation;  loosen the first, turn the second to move the insert in the desired direction, then re-tighten the first screw to lock it in place.  A tiny precision screwdriver is required but the sight is infinitely adjustable in case you are interested in cat's whiskers.  My 1939 K22 with Fitz grips:

I agree with Hardpan Curmudgeon on the rifle.  My Ruger No.1 looks like his.

For the shotgun,  I pick my Browning Model 42, .410 pump.  It has taken more feathered game, including waterfowl, than any of my other shotguns.  Success is knowing when to shoot and when not to.

So what's the go to?

An AK and a Glock?

870 and a brick?

AR and a 1911 cause MERICA?

AND LETS BE CLEAR...I like Purdy guns....

But BLACK RIFLES MATTER in this house

*all guns pictured were lost in a reseant unforeseeable boating accident

* all braces were also lost in said boating accident and therefor should be considered "destroyed."

* all barrels also extend way past the end of the picture to at least 16 inches......

-thank you

Love the target, thumb rest grip on the revolver.
