Irish Pat Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 My son wants me to travel to Colorado this fall and go primitive rifle hunting. We are trying to find out if you can use single shot rifles or if it must be muzzleloader only
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 There is no reference to "primitive" in the CPW BIG GAME REGULATIONS
Arkansas Jim 107095 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Muzzleloaders have a season for most big game. Hunting in CO is a lot of fun, but very hard in some places. Enjoy the hunt Pat Jim
Still hand Bill Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Muzzle loader season is early and short, last time I did it, it was a week In early September. No separate season for primitive. For big game, must be 50 cal for shaped bullet, 54 for round ball, no sabots. Also has to be iron sights. No scopes.

In this state we are required to use lead-free ammo, which means expensive copper with sabots. That rules out my Ferguson.
Cusz M. Dutch SASS Life 55326 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 have him check about left over tags. You missed the deadline for the main draw.
Spades, SASS 31383 Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 CPW has extended the draw deadline to the 9th, so you still have time.
Singin' Sue 71615 Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Reach out to Aspen Filly and Aspen Wrangler...they are well versed in CO rulings.
