Hodgdon Intl Clays for cowboy 12 ga loads

Recommended Posts

I have a 8# jug of Hodgdon International Clays I inherited. Does anybody use it for 12 ga loads. I currently use Red Dot, Claybuster CB0178-12 wads and Win or Fed primers in STS hulls. I hope I can find a equivalent load with Intl Clays as Red Dot is not readily available right around here.

Thanks in advance, my SASS Wire search came up unhelpful

The Clays International is a slower powder so I doubt you will find a light equalivent  assuming you looking for light SASS loads      GW

Lots of International loads listed on Hodgdon's reloading data website:

http://www.hodgdonreloading.com

The data lists 7/8 ounce loads as well as 1 and 1 1/8 ounce loads, so you should be able to play around until you find something you like.

Good luck.

Yes! I use 14.5 grs of Int. Clays for 12 gauge with 1 oz of shot!

MEC #25 bushing with Int Clays and 1 oz shot.  Used that load for smokeless for 3 years after I also inherited a good amount of that powder.

Go to the Hogdon website reloading data center http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/   select Shotgun, 12ga, 2 3/4" Remington STS, 7/8 oz or 1 oz, Hogdon, Internat'l and select any of the loads for WAA12L wads.  There many primer powder charge combinations to choose from.

Be very careful.  Hodgdon Clays, Hodgdon Universal and Hodgdon International are three very different powders.
