Dantankerous
The answer to why is pretty simple. The movie had 1911 .45's, 1897 12 gauges, and 1892 .44-40's & .38-40's. There warn't no .38/357's, .32-20's or .25-20's in the movie. The Winchester model 12 also made an appearance or two. And is now allowed in WB. BuT I'm not sure if there were lugged sole boots... Captain Bill Burt
I think you're right. I remember reading something about that a while back. I think it had to do with the blanks not working well in 1911s.
El Hombre Sin Nombre
Sorry those where star 9mms not 45s. There was also a luger pistol in there. And a few single action army's. I've always wanted to shoot wild bunch gunfighter style with one SAA and one 1911.

SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER
I know of a club that does this and it has cost them more shooters than attracted.
Dantankerous
Now, dual wielding a pair of 1911s sounds like Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing. Now we're talking fun. Zoot Shooting, anyone?
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
I know of a club that does this and it has cost them more shooters than attracted. So do I. It's not what I recommend for keeping the peace. Good luck, GJ
