Goody, SASS #26190
Texas Gunslinger (Bob Sanders) He does lots of Baikals yearly. He started strengthening this area on new guns 5 or 6 years ago to prevent that very thing. He is well versed in the ways of the Baikal. Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Ronnie at Run-n-Iron will resolder the ribs on double barrels. Normally resoldering is the permanent way to fix this. Usually requires re-rust-bluing barrels after done, if you care how it looks. Resolder Rib (Not including bluing)$100 http://www.runniron.com/general/index.html Usually much better than epoxy gluing the rib back on.

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Yes, the Baikal's weak spot is that they don't know how to solder repeatably well in Russia. The rest of the gun is a tank. The barrel ribs and the monoblock are soldered - and about 80% never have a problem. The other 20% will at some time. You decide if that is a common problem. Just for perspective, high end Brownings, Perrazis and some other over-under shotguns that are shot a lot pop ribs loose too. Now Stoegers, they just use soft metal that shoots the action and lockup loose in about 3-5 years of hard CAS use. Ain't no SxS shotgun perfect. In fact, the side by side design being inherently weak is why you don't see many folks using a true vintage gun (built before 1900) for their SxS shotgun. Even the tough as nails Browning BSS has a definite lifetime. Now, the 97 or Model 12 - take a licking and keep on ticking. Good luck, GJ
