Rootin Tootin
I came across a feller the other day that told me there is a tool for pulling out a casing when the rim breaks off. You just slide it through the busted case and cycle the rifle. Bingo...The case is pulled out. Where can I get such a tool? My cartridges are on their 5th year of reloading and I'm starting to get some splits and worry about cartridge rims starting to be the next problem. PM me with info please!!!! Thanks to all the pards in advance that I know will respond...........Regards.......Rootin Tootin
Stone Devers
Rootin Tootin, Maybe the best solution to this is to trash those cases and start getting new or at least once fired used brass. Safety for yourself and not damaging the gun should be priority. Stone Devers
Deuce Stevens SASS#55996
.38's are cheap especially comparing them to everything else in this game. Buy new brass.

Rootin Tootin
For all that responded...........Thanks........I have plenty of new brass. (5000 in total pieces but Mix of old and new) and I probably turn them twice per year between practice and matches. I think the split failures are probably due to older strays that are left behind from earlier shooters and picked up with my stuff when I'm done........In any event I want to be prepared when the first one occurs....Once of prevention is worth a pound of cure.......... Regards to all............I will contact Lassiter
Cat Brules
These work like a "fishing tool" we used in the oil business to run in the hole to hook onto a string of parted casing to pull it out. The tool has sharp ridges pointing backward that dig into the inside of the pipe when you pull out. In your situtation, the tool is much smaller, of course, and the tool slides into the shell casing, which has the head pulled off. The tool's ridges dig into the inside of the shell casing on the backward pull stroke and pull out the damaged case. The back end of the tool mimics a cartrdge case head and is grasped by the rifle's extractors. Then the reverse stroke of the action pulls the tool and the damaged case out together. I have one for 7.62mm and I don't know if they are readily available for cowboy cartridges. As stated, some of the cowboy specialists may have one. Dustin Checotah
I haven't looked for a while but Brownells had them for some cowboy calibers at one time. Dustin
