Plum Creek New Year's Holiday shoot

Dragon Hill Dave here. The Plum Creek Shooting Society hopes everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday and are looking forward to
the New Year.

If your New Year’s Resolutions are like mine, you are starting to think that you should shoot more this year (More ding in ’14!), continue to upgrade your cowboy shooting outfit (More Bling in ’14), and maybe get into this Wild Bunch option a little more( More aim-ing in ’14!). Well, do we have a deal for you.

Yes, you can fulfill several of your New Year’s Resolutions (can’t help you with that weight thing-see below) next weekend at the first shoot of the New Year with the Plum Creek Shooting Society’s (delayed) Holiday Party and Christmas Shoot on January 4, 2014 at the Agarita Ranch near Lockhart, Texas.

We will open in the morning with a 4-stage Wild Bunch match led by our intrepid VP Joe Darter. (8:00 a.m.-8:40 a.m. Registration; 8:45 a.m. Safety Meeting; 9:00 a.m. Hammers Down) Then we will follow that up with an afternoon 5-stage Cowboy match complete with a 6th stage posse shoot for prizes. (Registration opens at 11:30, 1:15 p.m. Safety Meeting; 1:30 p.m.
Hammers Down)

The whole shootin’ match costs $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Dinner is another $15. A cheap deal for a big value.

The Pavilion will be open in the afternoon for a Cowboy yard Sale. We will have a night shoot as the sun goes down, followed by a Holiday party featuring a great dinner from Kitchen Kate,
a costume contest, and a silent auction. What a blowout! A great start to another year of shooting with the Plum Creek Shooting Society.

I want to especially invite those of you who are just getting started with Cowboy Action Shooting to come to the Cowboy yard Sale and Holiday party with the Silent Auction. We will have a lot of the accessory stuff you need to participate in Cowboy Action Shooting for sale at rock bottom prices. This stuff is used (some, like several of my wife’s outfits on the sale rack, are never worn or worn once and other stuff is very well broken in) but nothing is more authentic! There will be holsters, gunbelts, guncarts (Santa brought me a new Rugged Gear Gun Cart, so my old one is going up for auction), shirts, hats, vests, cartridge cases, loading strips, 250 rounds of .45 LC brass and 200 rds of .45 ACP brass, 900 nice, green smooth sided shotgun shells, and that is just is what is
there now. More is coming. This is a great opportunity.

Rooms are still available at the hotel on the range. RV hookups are also still available (electricity and water) and there is plenty of dry camping available. (Contact Delta Raider at Lots of hotel rooms in town for you folks coming from a little farther way who don’t want to stay on the range.

The weather forecast looks just about perfect—clear skies with
Highs in the mid 60s. So, No More Excuses! Come out and shoot with us.

Did I mention that we have a night shoot? AS the sun goes down we plan to shoot a stage with black powder loads. We are encouraging our black powder shooters to come out with their most impressive flamethrowers to give us a show before we start the party. A little post-New Year's fireworks.

Colt: Glad you arw coming! Are you and Matt going to stay for the party? If so, let us know (go to pccss.org to Rsvp so we will be sure and have food for you.

Al: Sorry we are so far from you. Love to see you shoot with us more often. Put the Battle of Plum Creek, May 1-4, on your calendar and come have a blast.

Looks like we are going to have around 50 folks for the party, and probably a lot more for the shoot. It will be a "lively gaited soiree"- not to be missed if you are closer than Anvil Al.

Put it in the books! Wow-75 Cowboy shooters came to celebrate the New Year at Plum Creek. Our top shooter was Matt Black, with his dad Colt Faro right on his tail. We had a tie for top Ladies shooters with Ivory Venom and Spur Broke with both having exactly the same time. Diamond Kate, a Ladies Young Gun, was not far behind.

We had 18 Wild Bunch shooters in the morning, with Joe Darter taking Men's Modern; Jake Jones winning the Men's Traditional; and Shootin' Iron Miller won our First Place Ladies Modern.

Posse 3 took the honors at the Posse Shoot.

We had around 50 folks join us for the dinner party. Our costume contest winners were

Best Dressed Cowgirl: Shooting Iron Miller

Best Dressed Cowboy: Texas Sarge

Best Dressed Couple: Annalong Longshot and GT Sharps
Best Dressed Military: Artiman

And we had a special award for our Safety Marshal Elroy Rogers who has contributed so much to the success of our club.

Thanks to all who joined us and got 2014 off to a great shootin' start.
